There are many types of covers in the world of comics: Funny, dramatic, campy, perfectly drawn, poorly drawn, captavating....the whole magilla. This isnt a thread about favorite covers; but what you feel is the funniest, dramatic, and any other adjective you can think of. We got almost 100 years worth of comic book covers; so there is much to choose from.
==========================================
I'll get the ball rolling with some funny covers (or what I find funny):

Nova #20
-At first this looks like a simple, dramatic cover. But look at the background of this....what the hell is that robot in the background?

http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/nova/20-1.jpg

Quasar #29
-Uh.........yeah......

http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/quasar/29-1.jpg

Justice League of America #29
-Dont ask me why; but seeing Blue Beetle in this expression is just priceless.

Let's see...Favorite comedy cover is a tie between two Deadpool covers:
Deadpool #12 (Get some head): http://www.postimage.org/aVsCe0i.jpg (http://www.postimage.org/)

and Deadpool #68 (Making the Vespa look gangsta): http://www.postimage.org/aVsEVD0.jpg (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVsEVD0)

Favorite dramatic cover is an old standby favorite, it's Iron Man #128 (I don't know if any other cover provoked more pity than this): http://www.postimage.org/aVsG1t0.jpg (http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVsG1t0)

Favorite campy cover is definatly Hawk and Dove #1 (Look at the way Dove looks at both the top banner and front & center, he looks like such an overdramatic sissy wimp. Your brother is getting the ass-kicking of a lifetime, help him you fucking jerk-off! The way he's standing look like he's wetting his pants!): http://www.postimage.org/aVsHngS.jpg (http://www.postimage.org/)

Only thing better than racism in comics is fascism. The Hawk & The Dove cover is A+ quality.

And as I said before, the best thing about that Iron Man cover is the helmet looks disappointed in Tony Stark. Classic.

Batman #97

Batman and Robin put the dog down, and thus laid waste to their greatest threat!

I found two amazing classic comic covers that I'm sure everyone knows about, but never until now have I realized how similar they are. In fact, I'd say their almost duplicates! They are Uncanny X-Men #136 and Crisis on Infinite Earths #7. Decide for yourselves:

Oh wow; I never noticed that before. Plus considering the Uncanny issue is 5 years younger then the COIE issue....I'd say DC stole that image and made it as their own! I mean that is a great cover for Uncanny; but what do people remember? Cyclops holding Jean Grey, or Superman holding Supergirl?

Conspiracy!!!

Some great GL covers I found:

Green Lantern #49
-Love the red and yellow used in this cover....of course 'The Dazzler' is a stupid name; but that's in hindsight
http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/green-lantern-1960/49-1.jpg

Green Lantern #79
-We all know this famous run; and we all know how serious it played the drug problems of the 1970's. But few know they actually cared deeply about Indian reservations and their casinos. Vote 'NO on Prop 274' wont you?
http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/green-lantern-1960/79-1.jpg

Iron Lantern #1
-Part of the shit that was 'DC vs Marvel'. It's Amalgam comics....so it should most likely suck. But I actually love the design of this, mainly for the color. Maybe down the road Matt Fraction can write in a green Iron Man suit in the future? St. Patrick's Day celebration?

What the fuck is it with Superman and Jimmy Olson on all these covers? They always act like dicks to each other on the covers. This reminds me of a Japanese reality show which is kinda like Big Brother with a female cast, but everytime one of the girls cries, they collect their tears in a jar or something, and at the end of the show, whoever has the most tears wins.

Wasnt that like, part of a famous court battle with creators/company? Like I think the reason we see the creative names on covers to begin with is because of a court ruling. Or I could be talking out of my butt.....Anyone can confirm this?

Very often in even some 70's comics, the writer and artist team are sometimes not even listed inside the actual comic. Seriously.

Supergirl #36

Lots of things I love about this. The triangular composition (squint) and the action make this super dynamic! Also, for a non-supergirl reader who just thinks of the character as a jailbait / cheerleader fetish (ie me), this converted me to thinking there was more to it than that. The shot strikes me as anatomically correct for a young girl but a really pissed off powerful young girl. The line work is delicate and the colors have a soft-ish look to them juxtaposed to the destruction of the lasers. Also, the contrast between the white background and the dark foreground is eye-catching. I broke my boycott against pantsless superheros to buy this issue.

There are all types of comics; but few have ever seen the weirdest comics. With inspiration coming from Holy Sh*t: The World's Weirdest Comic Books. I've come to show you the weirdest comic book covers. Remember, they're all real.

Hansi, The Girl Who Loved the Swastika
-Although you couldnt tell by the cover; this actually is an anti-Nazi comic. About a girl who gets brainwashed by the Nazi reigme. Just think of it like a Marvel comic of the 40's....except of Captain America we get a blonde girl.

Binky Brown Meets the Holy Virgin Mary
-Taking along the veins of R. Crumb; this follows the semi-biographical accounts of Justin Green....and his sexual fantasies of the church....yeah he's going to hell.

God Iloved that issue. It was one of the first issues where Spider Jersualem wasn't been a completely cranky bastard. Not that being a cranky bastard is bad, it's just that the character needed to show a tender side otherwise he'd just be another wise cracking Warren Ellis character.

HA! Well, if you want to get technical about it, Cap probably should have died about eighty times during his tenure with the Avengers. No matter what kind of wacky, universe shattering event they find themselves in, this GUY WITH A SHIELD not only survived, but usually was the last guy standing to save the day. I found another cover that further rips off this pose! Check out the cover to Witchblade #128.

It's a homage, not a rip-off.

Ridiculous. When Scalped is all said and done Vertigo definitely need's to make a cover gallery book for it.

A famous James L Brooks line.

Actually he stated: 'When your ripping off a black and white movie; it's an homage'. :)

I actually see that now, as the background characters are also posed just like the X-Men cover. My bad, sometimes the line between homage and rip-off can be a little blurry.

Doesnt Cap have the power of moving his shield around when he throws it? Or am I just thinking of Marvel Ultimate Alliance?

I believe you are thinking of the video game. In the comics, Cap is just so awesome, everything bends to his will...he just doesn't control it. It's hard for Cap for be aware of it because he is so awesome.

I didnt realize Chuck Norris took over the mantle of Cap. :)
