Hi Patrick and Veronica, (age before beauty)
While I like the new Tekzilla set I have to wonder, since you're a tech show, why you don't use some of the tech readily available to do a digitally created background using a green screen? TRS and Pixelperfect use them to perfection. I especially like the amazing fan generated backgrounds that both shows are using.
What about it? Is a digital set anywhere in Tekzilla's future?
Sincerely,
Robert Jensen

Agreed.
I'll choose my words carefully since I previously was banned for being critical of the new set.
I'll take the idea one further. They could green screen behind their new 'window' to give the appearance that you're looking out onto each new scene.
It should somehow include the logo. Maybe a different city scene in various parts of San Fran? It could even expand to cities all over the world.
"Look Veronica and Pat are in Amsterdam".
It would be a big improvement.
I'll get to work on an appropriate backdrop. Please post your own backdrops and get behind this idea people!
Please.
A great show deserves a great set!

I think digital sets always look much cheaper than physical sets. Look at Systm, since they moved to green screen it looks plain odd compared to when they had the physical set.
The new set is great, and the constant tweaks are helping more :)
The exception to this would be if they had a physical looking set on green screen so it looks like a more spacious set, that could be pretty cool!

Quoted for truth. I really just don't like these green screen shows... They look... cheap.
See post for pic
OK, that does look good :)
Although, just for the record, I do like the new set with the recent tweaks; so no green screen needed.

Mine is better.

Mine is better.
Of course it is. You made it. If they used yours someone would post and say they had a better one or that the old one was better. Every criticism isn't a reason for change, especially major change that will have no effect on quality of content like set design.

Have you seen the new set? It definitely detracts from the content.

I disagree. The new set is fine.
I dislike greenscreen shows to but if it was just the window I could live with that but to be honest I don't mind the set now and don't want them to spend all there time keying out the green when they could be spending it on other things.
Although I didn't notice system was now on a green screen set in the 100th episode untill I noticed all the flickering every time it cut out of the close ups (the background changed about a frame after the camera) it was a tad annoying.

I don't mind the set now.
Complacency.
You can get accustomed to anything after awhile.

I guess I'm unusual. I focus on the show content and not what the hosts are standing in front of.

Well we all do to an extent. But this is video and having it visually appealing is a very important aspect of it.
I do think seeing that mockup that greenscreens would be pointless in Tekzilla and having a different location would be silly.

We must not become complacent!
But I agree with Davmoo:

It's like the argument of the new Intros for TRS, it's not the main part of the show, I mean for Tekzilla I would like them to be standing infront of something that looks nice (not saying the current set doesn't) but that's not why I watch the show.
I might stop watching if the set got horrendously bad but it's by no means there yet and seems to be getting better every episode.

Go ahead and say it.

We differ there. It is horrendous and I would never stop watching (unless Veronica left).
My suggestion rocks and you would all be squirting over it if they had done this in the first place.

I honestly don't think it looks bad, I did when it was first shown but it has inproved and I like it just as much as the old set.

I would have liked that but they've already spent money on this,
I know it's a bad excuse but there's a recession on how much do you think it would cost to change it again?
Probably not much but I don't mind it how it is and keying out a greenscreen takes time (to do and to render).
The set would have to get REALLY bad for me to stop watching though and I doubt it ever will.

I'll do it all for free.
I'll do it all for free.
That's nice of you. But still it takes time for them to do the green screening in the editing program.
Don't get me wrong I think it could look nicer but I'm not going to start any petition to change it.
I am, as you say; complacent (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/complacent).
