It's aspirational and many celebrities have cool stuff.
A little quote from this "show"..
"Bragging about shit that poor people will never have"
....aaaand that's when I stopped watching. At least MTV don't put down poor people. I don't think it's very nice to be suggested they can never achieve anything.
I shall not be watching this show any further Rev3, I don't tend to scour youtube looking for talking head ranty videos. Thank you for the opportunity to check it out. :D
edit: edited to be nice and comply with the "rules" :D

Cribs is alright to watch when your bored, its kind of cool seeing these pimped out houses. Teen cribs on the other hand is stupid, its a bunch of spoiled brats that probably havent worked a day in their life and might never have to talking about their cars/cats rooms/beach houses.
The way the host presented his case was just annoying to hear though. And going to the mtv offices to talk to the secretaries wtf.

While you were at it, you should have edited to comply with the English language
Now let me spoon feed you the idea behind this comment, though it may seem obvious to any halfwit out there. JV claims that poor people will never have these luxuries, and that is completely correct considering as long as you are poor you will never be able to afford this. If any person of the "poor" denomination, goes to college, gets a well paying job, climbs the corporate ladder and achieves enough wealth to afford said luxuries he is no longer considered poor, is he? Thus poor people can never afford these commodities, just like a quadriplegic can never walk, unless he is cured thus he is no longer a quadriplegic but a common pedestrian.

My favorite thing about crib is the rap star episodes. All that shit is rented by the record companies to project an image. Rented house, rented cars, rented jewelery.
Straight Boo Boo.

I think he was more focusing on the fact that the world isn't doing too well right now. With people losing their jobs and homes. So to have rich people on the TV going on about their new cars, or their 12 bedrooms that they barely ever step foot in, isn't really fitting. Now you could say that there have always been people in that situation, but people who felt secure with their stable job and mortgage, and young famalies are now basically fucked. (Well some)

So what, I have less than no money and no job, it doesn't bother me in slightest. As I said, rich people usually have cool stuff. It's nice to look at it. Besides probably half of the celebrities on cribs got what they got off their own back. It's as much aspirational as it is anything else. I think you'd have to be really jealous if it bothers you when you see what other people have and you don't. Certainly when the celebrities in question are thankful for what they have. There are far worse shows on MTV.

I don't really disagree. I don't watch cribs, not because of those reasons. It's just not something that interests me. I was just pointing out that's what JV's rant was about, not the fact he doesn't like Cribs, but he felt it's ill placed at this time.
Only thing I would say, you say you have less than no money and no job; Now I don't know you, but maybe you had nothing before, what about the people who worked 60 odd hours a week, and are now jobless and some homeless. Did they not work hard to get where they were?
Maybe his other rant was aimed at the people who live with their parents, and haven't been affected in the slightest so don't see where he was coming from, which is no bad thing, but to shrug it off thinking it hasn't hit some hard is more ignorance.(race car bed...)
Anyway, cribs doesn't bother me either but I can see his argument, although I'm sure it wasn't meant in a hugely serious manner.
Aspirational programming has its place, whether it be cribs or some show about, say, purchasing high end property. It's for the sort of people who buy into the idea that wealth equals enjoyment and success.
