The day is almost over, and night is about to fall. For some reason....no one put up this discussion at all.

I'll start first!
---------------------------------------------------
Deadpool #10: Pretty good issue, but it was a set up for the arc more then anything else. I cant wait to see where this Bullseye fight takes us. Plus Wilson using Craigslist as a way to get money is sad and depressing at the same time.

Human Torch 70th Anniversary: (PICK OF THE WEEK) The original Human Torch is a fantastic character, and I am gald a new writer was able to show how great he is. This was Scott Snyder's first ever foray into comics and I think we got ourselves a great new talent. Plus the art but Wegener, is very simplistic but amazing to look at. Very fun book.

This week I dropped a lot of titles so I only had Flash and the Y Hardcover.

Flash was excellent though and a lot better the the first issue imo. Can't wait to see what happens next. Although I was a bit disappointed on how they handled Barry being missing for so long.

Well Wegener had two other comics out today. Human Torch and Killer of Demons. Picked those up?

Seaguy: The Slaves of Mickey Eye #2 was my pick. Quite a bit better than the first issue and just hilarious at times.

Everything else was really good too. Nothing but 4s and 5s. I was a bit disappointed in Flash:Rebirth, but it was still very enjoyable. The last page has me curious, but a bit confused because I haven't really read much involving The Black Flash. Still, I'm intrigued and having fun with it.

War of Kings 3 was awesome. Gladiator made the issue for me, and the guest appearance

Final Crisis Aftermath: Run was a fun little issue. I'm a sucker for a good book about a bad guy so I'm on board for this one.

Deadpool was everything you need from a Deadpool book. Big, stupid fun with big explosions. This is the comic book equivalent of your favorite candy.

Flash: Rebirth moved the story along nicely. It's been mentioned before about this book, but it's worth repeating. If not for the 'Tom vs. The Flash' podcast, a lot of this book would be lost on me.

The Boys...look, I know this book creeps along at an arthritic turtle's pace, but I look forward to it every month. Sure, this was ANOTHER issue full of talking heads, but I don't care. I think I like it that way. When there is action, it's quick and brutal so I need a break to recover from it.

Amazing Spider-Man was great...again. I'm interested in seeing where this new Vulture came from. I liked cranky old man Vulture so there better be a good explanation for this new one.

Solomon Grundy I should have never picked this book up to begin with but I'll see it through because i'm THAT guy.

All in a all, a lot of good this week, but nothing great.

I'll repeat what I said last month. EXILES is *so much fun*. It works as continuity porn but you don't need that aspect to follow it. And on a shallow level, Salva Espin draws lotsa pretty people in pretty clothes, if you're into that kind of thing.

Loved the final issue of X-MEN FIRST CLASS, and WAR OF KINGS #3 as well. Good week for fun comics.

One thing that it doesn't look like a lot of people picked up is LIFE AND TIMES OF SAVIOR 28 by JM DeMatteis. It's sort of an alt take on Captain America, and JDM did a fascinating interview about it on Word Balloon a month or so back. Issue 2 just came out, and I think it's really fascinating. Seems like there's a lot of this kind of thing going on right now, and I don't know how reliable the publishing schedule is going to be, but it's at least worth keeping an eye out for the trade down the road.

Flash and Jersey Gods were both great this week (though the Mark Waid backup was eh in JG).

I picked up Human Torch, which I'm looking forward to reading. Still sucks that they didn't get it in. I didn't even realize it wasn't in my stack until I got home, and when I called, they said they had none in. I'll just have to swing by one of the other local shops to see if they have it.

The guys at my comic shop talked me into Fin Fang Four Return! and am I glad they did. This is one of the most fun comics I've read in a long time. This has a whimsical charm to it, and it really hilarious. The art is great as well, featuring a Kirby-esque style that's a little bit more cartoony. I recommend this book to everyone. It's an absolute blast.

So far I've only read the new New Mutants series...and it was ok. Magik is such a confusing character to follow, and every line out of her mouth had me scratching my head trying to figure out where they're going with her characterization. Everything else was pretty by the numbers so far, I'm a bit interested where they go with Legion though.

I'll repeat what I said last month. EXILES is *so much fun*.

I agree, I was beginning to think I was the only one else reading it.

I haven't yet got to New Avengers Reunion #3, that's because I got it with 1&2, so I have some catch up there. I also got the BFTC: The Network. No one talking about those titles though, that can't be a good thing...

I didn't read it myself but I've heard from a few people that "The Network" is basically Birds of Prey when Birds of Prey was good. So it sounds like a good bet!

EXILES rocks my socks, and I bet Ron feels the same way.

Just to let you know, if you give a good review to the Human Torch comic....Scott Snyder will personally give you a 'thanks' comment on Twitter.

Or maybe that was just me? :)

Flash: Rebirth #2 - I'm finally up to speed (lol) on what the current situation for Barry is, I just don't know how I feel about him turning into the new Black Flash. Is it Barry's turn to become the Parallax of the Flashes? The art is gorgeous as always, it's just the story that's making it difficult to really truly enjoy. But what do I know? I'm more of a 'Rogues' guy.

Superman: World Of New Krypton #3 - Very enjoyable issue! As we all know, Supes is the perfect candidate for hostage negotiator. And howabout that duel at the end? Even with all his powers, training with the likes of Batman, Wildcat, and others, proper fighting beats powerful punches any day of the week. My one issue is the Green Lanterns appearing at the end. Keep my Hal out of this continuity! He's out on the Vega system at this point!

Amazing Spider-Man #593 - I'm realling digging the aspect of Spidey being the good guy 24/7, just as a big 'Fuck You' to JJJ Jr. Try as they might, Spidey is just too cool for school...until this new Vulture came on the scene. Very cool "WTF?!" moment when his face was revealed, and very cool cliffhanger!

Invincible Iron Man #13 - It'll be interesting to see the new suit design Tony is working on...if he survives (dun dun duuuun!!!)! Add in Pepper Potts and her neat-o suit, and this issue was very entertaining.

War Of Kings #3 - Hey! An appearence of the Guardians of the Galaxy! I really like the idea of a Kree evolution invention to even the playing field, and hopefully they can get it up and running before the end of this series. Gladiator on the other hand? Nice backstab, and cool to see where his loyalties really lie.

Deadpool #10 - Leave Wade Wilson alone!!! Dude can't seem to catch a break when it comes to being hounded by Norman. The fight between him and Bullsey-err, Hawkeye was very funny, and I hope the action and humor continues next issue.

Irredeemable #2 - This series continues to be such a fun, creepy read. We follow one of the Plutonians ex-flames as she describes how they first met, his secret identity, and how he kind of loses his cool in front of everybody. One of the many early warning signs the guy was going to snap? Perhaps. If it's one guy who knows superheroes, it's Mark Waid. Can't wait for the next issue!

Battle For The Cowl: The Network - Cool to see Hugo in this issue, but I can't say I was really impressed with this one-shot. Of all the crossovers, this is one of my least favorites so far.

New Avengers: The Reunion #3 - I'll stick with Green Arrow / Black Canary from now on, thanks.

New Mutants #1 - Myself not being all that knowledgeable about the various mutant teams, this issue was hard for me to follow. And no offense to the creators, but since I don't care about the characters, I don't care about this series either.

The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1910 #1 - Hands-down my pick this week. I've been such a fan of the first two volumes, that this first issue put me right back into the thrill-ride that is LXG. I liked the new design of the Nautilus, and loved the new captian. $8 price tag be damned! This issue is well worth your money.

Destroyer #2 - I'm liking Kirkman's violent (uber-violent) take on this older character. I just wish when I'm that old, I'll still be battling monsters and rescuing kidnapped loved ones from my arch nemesis.

Cable #14 - I liked the different perspectives in this issue. You have Bishop, Warpath, and Hope, all seeing and thinking different scenarios. The confusion Hope has at the end is going to make the next few issues really interesting for poor Nathan!

Power Girl #1 - While I like her costume, I just don't care for her stories outside of Johns' JSA stuff. I'm sure Palmiotti and Gray are making the fans who love her happy, but I'm just not a fan of her. Talk to me when Scarlett Johansson is playing her in the film.

Final Crisis Aftermath: Run #1 - I thought this grade-Z villain was suppose to be a nobody? Who cares if he wanted Martian Manhunter dead! He personally didn't kill him! The only Final Crisis Aftermath title I'm actually looking forward to is Dance!

Agents of Atlas #4 - It was cool to see them fighting against Captain America, but was it really necessary to make the Agents of Atlas apart of Captain America and Bucky's history? Is Cap in this just to sell more books? I'm torn when it came to this issue, because it's been a fun series up until that.

The Boys #30 - A nice end to this...interesting arc. Dynamite has been pimping big stuff happening next issue, so I can't wait to see what's up.

Daredevil: Noir #2 - Bullseye Killer? Guess it had to happen sooner or later. If you're enjoying the current run on Daredevil, I recommend this mini series to you. It's a fun romp, but perhaps you'll want to wait to read it in trade.

The Mighty #4 - I knew something fishy was up with Alpha One! Now my suspicions have been confirmed. Very fun series by Peter J. Tomasi, and I'm glad I got on board with this one!

Solomon Grundy #3 - Gorgeous art, crappy story.

Jonah Hex #43 - I really liked the lack of dialogue in the first half of the book, and all the action told through art. The young gal could be the character Megan Fox is playing for all I know. But as usual, Jonah Hex blows me away.

Atomic Robo: Shadow From Beyond Time #1 - Interesting new story. I've personally never been a fan of H.P. Lovecraft and his Cthulu tales, but I am a fan of Atomic Robo! He reminds me of a mechanical Hellboy.

Bang! Tango #4 - I'll just wait for the trade instead of reading the last two issues I think. So much is happening, that I'm having trouble remembering the past issues.

Eminem Meets The Punisher (Marvel Digital Exclusive) - I wouldn't sign-up with Marvel's Digital service just for this comic. Mark my words, you'll see this mini story in the pages of Astonishing Tales to fill space soon enough.

I just finished reading the Human Torch 70th Anniversary issue and New Krypton #3.

The Human Torch issue was fantastic, and I think TNC is right to heap so much praise on this issue. It was a heart warming (pun intended) story with whimsical pencils by the guy that draws the very awesome Atomic Robo. The back up story was ok, but I do love these issues with main story and back up materials.

New Krypton was great. As usual, more layers are added to this story. I thought the fight between Gor and Supes was great, particularly when Supes went all Batman on him. It's a really nice touch to that whole scene. The arrival of the Green Lanterns should make things interesting. This continues to be really, really solid.

You didnt like the back up issue? I havent read the Cap 70th yet but the Namor back ups were okay. I just loved how campy this thing was. It's all suppose to be serious but in the first page we get:

'Attracted to Gay colored tents'. Dont tell me you didnt chuckle at that :)

The back up was ok. The one in Captain America was the best because it was just so completely ridiculous.

I just finished up Flash: Rebirth #2 and War of Kings #3.

Flash: Rebirth #2 was really good. It wasn't on a great level for me though. I thought this issue did a great job of moving the story along, but I wasn't really into all of Barry's reflection on his past life. Also, I got the vibe in the last issue that he is having some issues with being back, but you'd think a guy who was gone/dead for so long would be a little bit more happy about seeing his wife and some of his family. The final pages were definitely really awesome, and the twist at the end is crazy interesting. I'm definitely on board for the next issue.

War of Kings was just fantastic. Totally my pick. The action was great and the ending was just fantastic. There's just so many excellent things going on, and all of the layers are really making for an incredible cosmic event. The Guardians of the Galaxy are just so awesome it hurts. I'm totally loving this whole thing.
