does anyone know when part 8 of Wolverine's Old Man Logan is coming out? I believe issue #73, which would be part 8 starts an new story arc. so it make you wonder when the final book is coming out. do you think they are going to release a special issure like they did at the end of Wheldon's run on astonishing?

Dont know when it is coming out but it is supposed to be a double sized special comic.

From Lying in the Gutters a few weeks ago:
HE'S THE BEST HE IS AT WHAT HE DOES. BUT IT'S NOT MATHEMATICS.
So... what's up with issue numbers and solicitations at Marvel?
"Wolverine" #72 featuring the penultimate episode in "Old Man Logan" by "Civil War" team Mark Millar and Steve McNiven will ship the week after "Wolverine" #73 by Jason Aaron, Daniel Way, Adam Kubert and Tommy Lee Edwards. That issue has been bumped ahead of #72 as it's a better jumping on point for any people turned onto the character by the upcoming movie.
The slipping in schedule of Old Man Logan already necessitated the final issue being a Giant Size Wolverine Special so as to get a new-reader friendly Wolverine standard issue on the stands at the right time... but things slipped a bit further still, necessitating this out-of-order numbering.

That is the dumbest thing I have heard in awhile.
We're gonna release #73 before #72....Gee cant imagine why they have to do that. (Damn you McNiven!!!)
Seriously....just hold off on those issues. You delayed the earlier issues of Wolverine; why confuse the masses by switching the order of issues?
oh_caroline
05-07-2009, 06:09 PM
I think it would be way more confusing to 'the masses' if issue 73 was a whole new story, then 74 went back to the previous one. Those numbers will be on the comics forever; in a year, no one will remember when they shipped.

Since 73 is pretty much a precursor for Dark Wolverine, they should just release it under that title. Or at least do something to differentiate Old Man Logan from this.
Better yet, people could just buy one of the other 4000 Marvel titles that has Wolverine in it. I don't think movie goers are going to have a hard time finding something to read. :)

Now now that figure isnt accurate....
It's about 5000 titles he's in.

People love to throw out these wild numbers when referring to how many comics Wolverine appears in every month, but really, isn;t the ACTUAL number crazy enough?
And speaking of that, does Deadpool REALLY need TWO monthly titles PLUS mini-series? The guy has a cult following yeah, and i personally like him quite a bit, but think of all the iconic, A-List Marvel characters who only have one title a month, and all of a sidden Deadpool gets 3? Really?

I think its absurd that the guy has one ongoing, let alone two. Deadpool sucks ;)
Anyway, Caroline has a great point. It won't matter in the long run when they ship. Honestly though, I would think they would care more about having new readers pick up Wolverine:Weapon X. That would sound more familiar, and the #1 on the issue would seem less intimidating, to people that just saw the movie.

Uh what other self-titled monthy series is Deadpool in?
Right now he has his own title with Daniel Way as writer. Plus a mini (Suicide Kings) with Mike Benson on board. I hope I'm not missing a new monthly cause that would look bad on my part.

OH ****!
Seriously? A 2nd ongoing Deadpool series? Damn he is almost at the level of Wolverine in terms of whoring himself out son!
I'll definitely pick up Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth when it comes out. Although I am a bit iffy on the creative team. Cause the writer is someone I have never heard of; and apparently his foray is noir novels. Plus Bong Dazo is artist; while I liked his style in Thunderbolts for two issues, I dont know if I can handle him ongoing on a title.
But thanks for introducing me to this comic drake. I wont shut up about it when it comes out :)

Im not jazzed on Bong's artwork but the story sounds pretty cool for the Merc With a Mouth mini series.

Does anyone else see that about 75% of this thread doesn't even relate to Old Man Logan? It seems we always talk about Deadpool to the max whenever the chance arises haha

Damn stupid Deadpool!! ;)
Honestly, I don't care that OML will be late and the issue release is whack. People are getting pretty worked up on the comments for the issue over on the site and I really don't get it. The idea makes perfect sense for Marvel from a business standpoint. They want new readers, we all want new readers too, so why is it so horrible? Because it messes up your collection scheduling? People feel cheated by not getting the OML chapter first? If it isn't ready yet, it shouldn't be released. I have enough titles on my pull list so that I don't mind, or even notice, the wait for some books. That probably isn't the same for everyone though, I acknowledge that.
Anyways, patience is a virtue.

That's it.....no backing out from this.
I now see how people got so pissed off with Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk....and while this comic certainly hasnt been THAT late....I'm not wasting my time waiting and spending money on something that should've been done 6 months ago.
Wolverine is offically dropped. Dont even wanna bother finishing this story.

I dont even care how great quality this comic has been. Quite frankly I was buying this for the story more so then the art. But then of course McNiven has to be a slow as a snail with pencils and I cant get the end of this story. Then again the story has been very slow and quite boring lately.
Even if McNiven is doing gorgeous stuff; I would rather have this to be on time then him putting the final details on Hawkeye's hair.

Well come on, no one else is outraged over the lateness of this series? Plus the fact that the finale to this will most likely come out after summer? Cause I check the august solicts and I see no indication this finale is coming out this summer.
That's ridiculous and I dont care if it is the best wolverine comic to come out in ages. That shouldnt be accepted no matter what comic, creative team, publisher this is on.

At this point, I think the blame lays with Millar. Kick Ass? Quarterly at best. FF? 3 issues in the past half year. War Heroes? Two issues in a year baby. Wolverine? Well, I think we get it now. How about trying 2 projects at a time instead of 4 when you know you can't get it done sir.

Actually I think in defense of Millar; he's had the script to Kick-Ass and Old Man Logan finished for ages. It's Romita Jr. and McNiven (seperately) that is causing the lateness for those two titles. Come to think of it, most of Millar's projects seem to be late.
Look if a title is late once....I mean it's a pain but I can somewhat deal. Cause sometimes there can be hiccups in someone's pencils, or a coloring mistake; or maybe even an artist could have an injury preventing him/her to get an issue out on time. But this is going to be the 3rd (maybe even 4th) time this book has been late. 3 times it is late for 3 months, and I think a couple of times it had to get pulled back a week or two for some reason.
This story is just plauged with delays and I just think it's wrong to say: 'Ah well the finished product what matters most'. If that was the case then no one should ever complain about latenesses. But I know for a fact the same people who are saying 'I dont care' are the same people who thought lateness on another book was a terrible thing. Cant just contradict yourself like that...

Look at the artist he chooses to work with
JRJR: Is doing ASM and Kick-Ass.
Bryan Hitch: Is notorious for having shit happen to him while drawing. Like the birth of his child, two house moves, and an office move while doing The Ultimates and as of late he posted his mother had passed away and then had scheduling conflicts with his Cap project this summer with Ed Brubaker. For his reasoning's for not being able to do the last FF issue.
Tony Harris: Is doing Ex Machina and War Heroes. As well as trying to do Spider-Man: With Great Power for Marvel in 08.

Geez...you never stop do you? Here I thought you were trying to change.
By the above statements, you should not be reading Ultimate Wolverine Vs. Hulk then. OK, so you were not reading this when it was hit with delays, so what? There was still a three year delay between issues. THREE YEARS! Yet you still pick up the title. So even though it is painfully obvious that you are trying to call Conor out on the title, its you yourself that, again, is looking like the fool.
Simply put, if you drop money on a book that is 3 years late, then the fact that you bitch about a 3 month delay is just ridiculous

Have fun sitting on your hands then.
While McNiven is doing the details on Logan's nostrils the rest of the comic community will move on. Maybe the finale will come out when Blackest Night finishes....so then it can challenge DC in 2010.

"Giant Old Man Logan" makes me envision the issue is about a 60 foot tall gray haired Wolverine stomping around!
Oh, the issue itself is giant and not the titular character? Never mind...

So, I just finished reading Wolverine # 72, the conclusion to the Old Man Logan story. Well, I thought it was supposed to be the conclusion until I was slapped with a SUPER MORBID ending and told that the REAL conclusion would be in a Giant Sized Special. Does anyone know when this is supposed to come out????? In the infamous words of Veruca Salt... "I want it now!!!!"

Oh man this is so disconcerting ... That is ways off.
I just bought ( by driving all over SF) and read all the issues from 66-72 this weekend and it was such a fun read. Amazing. I hope it comes out sooner, but I guess, I'll have to be patient.
