hello, on episode 1 of the show JV says it is unethical fir MTV to show cribs because it insulting in this kind of economy.
my argument is that there is no difference between this and most shows on TV other media, it is simply escapism.
is JV also opposed to the new Star Trek film because it is rude to make a film about space travel then that is not possible in this economy. no, that's silly.

Star Trek is fiction. Cribs is not fiction.

my point still stands. there is a market escapism and the cribs show caters to that. so whats the problem? if this is the case then shouldn't JV be just as against the viewers then he is the show?

People take his rant against Teen cribs way too seriously. The dude isn't making some strong social commentary against Cribs. You're referencing intelligent philosophical ideas as a counter-argument. It's just entertainment buddy.

And I for one find cribs and sweet 16 and those shows effing annoying, but I don't want them off the air.

You mean to tell me you don't wanna punch one of those spoiled teenage pricks in the face for bragging about their houses and cars?

I'd like to punch every teenager in the face. Life is not a music video.

The argument is valid.

I'm just saying Jv's really not making some serious "point".

I'm just glad we agree these teen cribs fuckers need a punch to the mouth. Diddy too.

JV made a social commentary which is not often enough echoed in the media. He chose MTV cribs because it's one of the most blatant and obvious examples of the extravagance going on in our current society. A social movement starts with random critical manifestations and builds up to full blown social outrage. How is this escapism? It's being pro-active. Your whole argument is, it self, escapist at it's core.

the reason why cribs is so popular is because the audience wants to be and live like the people on the show. im not talking about JV
