I remember a WHILE back in an episode Kevin mentioned a website which saves all of your passwords and account info all across the web for you. Does anyone know which website that was in or what the site is???

You feel comfortable with doing that?

I'm pretty sure they were talking about an extension where you have one master password and it will generate unique passwords for individual sites. That way if you forget your password, you type the site name into the extension along with your master password and it will recover the password for that site.

I remember the concept and them talking about it but would have no idea which episode it was...

I had a ap that did that. Worked well. I would never trust an internet site/ap with that, though.

Foxmarks or Xmarks as it's called now, is an extension for FireFox which saves all your passwords and bookmarks. It's secure. I use it, it synchronizes all my bookmarks and passwords to all my computers :)

I second this. I love using Xmarks (AKA Foxmarks). :)

well xmarks is better than people mention it was featured in a daily but they left out my favorite part of the extension. It doesn't limit you to using the xmark server...you can use your own server for added security if you are like me and want syncing but also are paranoid about letting anyone access your stuff.

Setting up the custom server is kind of complicated and you would probably need to have webhosting somewhere that allows you root access to your account and not just public_html access.

I never ever ever use things like this. Too much risk of all your ID info being stolen. You do NOT want to deal with ID theft. Mine was stolen in 1999, and it's been a nightmare since then. Last year someone tried buying a house in my name somewhere. That's not the worst of it, but you get the idea. It's just asking for trouble having a website save all your personal info. A minute of inconvenience is so much better than having your life stolen from you.

You do know in most modern browsers (Firefox/Opera) if you have access to someones logged in machine for 1 second, you can launch the browser, go to options and under security; show all passwords. Most average users do not have a master password and it's not prompted by default. Let's just say a very easy way to obtain someones Gmail & banking info; not that I've done it.

Just goes to show you know matter how much encryption, etc; you can easily be hacked if you have direct access. You can also copy the firefox profile folder to a thumb drive and hack it in your own time :)
