Did anyone else notice the guys that made Marvel Cosmic cool again, plus Christos Gage (!!!), are also doing The Authority? When did that start? Is it any good? I haven't touched The Authority since the first issue of the relaunch in 2006, have I been missing out?

I'd also love to know this. Just found out the other day.

I read the first couple issues because of them... meh. I think it could be good if it weren't for the scenario they were put it with this whole post-apocalyptic Earth/Wildstorm U, but it really wasn't. Maybe when things get back to "normal" they could do something with it, but I honestly think that Universe on the whole is pretty much done for for a while. The last thing it had going for it was Morrison and he bollocksed that up for them pretty good...

I feel the same. Read the first 2-3 issues and I wasnt wowed. I do like how Apollo is unable to spend a serious amount of time on the planet now. Overall it may be worth it to get a trade if you are a huge fan.

I've been reading since number one and while I don't think it is as good as some of their other stuff it is still a pretty good book.
It takes the Authority and puts them in a situation where their powers don't mean shit. Apollo has to stay in space most of the time to charge since most of earth has been blacked out. There is no technology so Angie/Engineer has to get by on her wits. Most of the cities were destroyed so Hawksmoor is a dilapidated mess. All of this is evident in the first issue so no spoilers.
It really is a good post-apocalyptic survival story, but it won't change your world or anything.

Out of all the Wildstorm books that are operating in the new World's End scnerario, DnA's Authority is definatly the best. I actually stopped reading it around issue 6 because I had to cut my pull list for money related reasons, but DnA wrote some pretty good issues with a nice dark atmosphere. Stormwatch is also suprisingly good. Gage's Wildcats is so-so, and I've never really cared for Gen13, so I cant say much about it.

Wildstorm gets ignored a lot. Thanks to very poor editorial handling circa 2003 or so and constant 'reboots'. The books, as they are at present, are pretty good. Lots of fun, exciting stories that have good art in them.

They are good team so I might at least pick up the first couple issues. Haven't read any Authority yet though. The Authority absolute version keeps staring at me at my LCB. Should I pick it up before the DnA stuff starts?

Abnett is so good that I almost picked up his Warhammer 40K books. Books without pictures, the insanity. (hopes he doesn't get flamed after that comment)
