i am currently running on stock cooling with my Athlon X2 5000+ running at 3068MHz & 1.36v. this is the max over clock that is prime stable @ this voltage... I want to try bumping up the vCore a notch and see if i can push it further.

I kicked it up a notch and the temp quickly rose to 65c without any additional overclock (max load temp before was 58c)

im looking to try and spend less that $60 US but its flexible if need be.

It would also be help full if the heatsink in some way blew air onto the northbridge chip, mine is passive cooled and i currently have a fan zip-tied in to cool it.... all though i have been looking at getting this for it

currently the xig. doesn't have a way to rotate it 90 degrees to blow toward the exhaust fan... the ultra-120 has a $5 clip i can buy that will allow for that... but its already about the most i am wanting to spend and the scythe will allow me to put the fan any where i want it right out of the box.... if you have any other suggestions, please ^.^

I use that on my Phenom 9950 with no issues. I actually forgot to plug the fan in after upgrading from a Athlon 6000 and didn't notice for a week. I only noticed becasue one of my hard drives died.

Never used it. It doesn't attempt to help noise with it's all plastic fan. The one I linked to has the fan suspended with rubber arms. If it helps or not I can't tell, the hard drives are too noisy.
