Months ago, I didn't think much of DLC. So, I bought Fallout 3 and GTA IV on the PS3 since my XBOX 360 had begun to scratch disks.
Flash forward six months. I purchased a new XBOX 360, and new copy of Fallout 3 for it just to get the DLC. I'll probably also purchase the XBOX version of GTA IV for the same reason.
Am I just being Microsoft's bitch?

Yes, yes you are. Well, more Bethesda's and Rockstar's bitch since you're buying their game twice, but that's okay.
DLC was always the deal breaker for me when it comes to games like that. Two systems with the same capabilities, so the only other choice is to go for the system with more gameplay. I'm planning on buying the PS3 version of Batman: AA because of the Joker room thing.
Though, rumors of GTA4's DLC coming to PS3 are fluttering about, so you might want to hold off until at least E3 before buying the game again for 360.

I am a whore for rock band dlc. I've spent more money on the DLC than the actual game, which is rather impressive considering I bought the full band package.

Yes, you are. But I don't really blame you for the Fallout 3 DLC... Although, if you had a PC, there was always that option.
Didn't like GTAIV. Still don't.

I likes it. I just got really frustrated with the combat system. So I quit. Oddly enough I thin GTA: SA was better at that. I hated getting sent back to the beginning of long convoluted missions.

I hate to stir the fanboy angst. Here goes.
I just finished the main quest on the XBOX 360 version of Fallout 3. I had previously completed the game to not quite 100% on three other characters using the PS3. The XBOX 360 seems to run the game much more smoothly. I wonder if the PS3 version didn't get as much love as the XBOX 360 version.

No wondering required. As a PS3-only owner, I consider myself fortunate that Bethesda even bothered to pluck the PS3 port out of their toilet and put it onto shelves for me to enjoy.
We're talking about the game that locked up for a few seconds every time that a system notification popped up... How that passed the PS3 port QA department is beyond me.
But I still love the game, and nothing will change that. I just hope they grace the PS3 again with New Vegas and the next Elder Scrolls.

Whatever game engine that Bethesda uses is pretty clunky. I think it actually holds their games back. The final mission Fallout, "Take it Back", and the "Battle of Bruma" mission in ES IV are great examples of scenarios that really overstress the engine. These scenarios are meant to have a massive scale. I'm hoping that they do some retooling to help their engine scale better.
How cool would it be to have a quest on ES5 that takes place in a large-scale pitched battle?

If by "a large-scale pitched battle" you mean "2 or 4 player online co-op" then I say, "very cool. It would be very cool, sir."

That and 100's of characters.

I would love to know how Fallout 3 handles with a controller. Seems tedious enough as a PC game. Still fun though.

Playing it on PC, I prefer the controller. The only time where I would prefer the keyboard is manually using the sniper and using hotkeys (since the 360 dpad just isn't that accurate). But I don't change weapons all that much and other than the Operation Anchorage, I rarely use the sniper rifle (except in early missions).
Keyboard and mouse still provides more accuracy and navigating the menu is slightly easier, but it's a small trade off. It's just a lot more comfortable playing with a controller.

I'm assuming that VATS works the same way. I use the sniper weapons constantly. The game isn't great as a traditional FPS. You're meant to use the VATS from most of the heroic stuff. A sniper character needs to focus on developing APs and other perks that enhance the use of VATS and sneak. Blowing heads off never really gets old and watching a Super Muties and Death Claws liquefy from a Plasma-rifle critical hit is intensely satisfying.
I highly recommend collecting the Alien Blaster and using it for the final mission.
I switch weapons constantly using the hot-keys. It's not difficult.
BTW, I downloaded and Played the new DLC from Fable II today. It's very short. Pretty much just a teaser and some collection quests.

Fallout 3 DLC is coming to PS3! Plus, two more DLC packs were announced.
Also, Fallout 3 GOTY is coming in October for $59.99 including all five DLC packs.
Good things come to those who wait. ;)

In that case, I won't mention the awesome Tesla gun.

I love Bethesda. I can't get enough of the Fallout universe for some reason and I'm extremely glad there's even more DLC to come.

Yeah, VATS works the same way, though with the mouse, you can just click where you want to hit, if I'm remembering correctly, instead of shuffling around with the analog stick. I'm a fan of VATS. The perk where you instantly fill up after killing someone with VATS is something I just can't live without anymore because I'm so reliant on it now.
For the hot keys, it's the corner hot-keys that throw me off. I can use the up, down, left, right just fine, but when I try to press between them, I end up a lot of times pressing the one I didn't want to. Maybe my thumb just needs adjusting to the thing.

^^ I'm a fan of VATS, too. In fact, I'm probably one of the few people who want to see something similar to this added in to the next Elder Scrolls game.

That wouldn't be bad. They would have to make the animations more interesting though. Fable 2 has some awesome character animations. ES IV, not so much.
BTW, with Broken Steel, there comes a level-30 cap and some wicked top level enemies like the Super Mutant Overlord that are just wicked hard.
DLC is awesome, I have picked up each one for Fallout 3, but I think all DLC should be free :)

How else are you going to pay $90 for a $60 game.

I can honestly say, I haven't bought ANY DLC...EVER!!
Is that bad?! I usually just buy the game, trade it in after I'm done, have massive seller's remorse and then buy the GOTY edition (Elder Scrolls/Fallout 3/CoD4)
I have downloaded free DLC though!! :p

I always feel so dirty and used after downloading DLC from Microsoft especially the Halo 3 map packs. But has anyone else seen how much they are charging and what the Halo Wars DLC is? It is criminal. I personally refuse to download that one and am actually selling halo wars because i am so pissed about it.

I see this as a fair way to balance used game sales. Let em buy a game used, but you can't buy DLC used. ;)

I usually buy every multi platform game for 360 partly because of DLC, which MS seems to be better at, but also because of Achievements. For some reason, I love the Xbox gamerscore system, but I could give two shits about PS3 Trophies. I don't know why, mind you, but that's how I feel.
Games like GH and Rock Band have indeed cost me more $$ with DLC than the game packages did, which in a way is good, but also depresses me as well.

Okay, so I downloaded "Point Lookout" yesterday. This module is really rather good. I really pokes fun at Bethesda's more rural neighbors.

The scuttlebutt says more Fallout DLC next week.

This officially will make Fallout 3 the most money I've ever paid on a single title.

Yeah, Mothership Zeta is suppose to be the last one, but I hope more keeps coming until Fallout Vegas releases. Rock Band is currently number one in terms of my money spent on DLC, but Fallout is definitely number 2. Got 'em all and glad I did.

Well, I've nearly reached the level-30 cap. This last DLC will push me over the edge.
