Hello one and all!!!

I am hoping for some help with choosing a home server.

I have been looking at Tranquil PC's T2-WHS-A3G, but i have read some poor reports on their customer service and build quality, but on the flipside, some very good reports too.

So I'd thought I'd put this out to the forum to see if anyone has had any experience, good or bad, with either their customer service or hardware.

Cheers

I only have experience with whs which is not promising. if that unit used linux, I definately might consider it. It is down rirght easy to build or modify a piece of furniture that will muffle the sound of a pc. There are some new systems coming out that will rival that system soon. Becuase of the competition, I would expect appletv and the like will drop in price by at least half.

The whs element is kinda the most imported to me. I have been running Microsoft's trial version on a VirtualBox and its linking into my network perfectly.

But thanks for the info, and I'll bear that in mind when i make my final decision.

My issue really with tranquil pc and was just wondering if anyone has had dealings with them.

I ran whs on bare metal. I worked ok till the first (actually it was the second) upgrade, then it went south including no longer supporting my capture card and many other issues. I would use winXP as a media server before using whs. WHS may have even messed the capture card up. Anyway I dumped whs and had installed linux. the capture card works again but not as good as it did before. I have used windows os for years, but whs was so restrictive. I know someone else who had a media smart. The system went south and he could not recover the data off the drives becuase of the special format used by his version of the mediasmart. He was upset to say the least. If he had used some other os, their would not have been a problem.
