My plan is to stream my movies, music and photos that are stored on the gaming PC in the study to the comfort of the living room. My chief concern is to have ALL my file types (AAC, MP3, M4V, AVI etc) available and that the TV interface be elegant and simple enough for a non techie (ie the gf).
I've been reading about dedicated AV streamers, AppleTV, Xbox 360 and PS3 streaming and DNLA and was wondering what you guys think are the best streaming technologies out there.
Cheers

I'm using a Western digital media player (see link below)

It runs sweet on My Sharp 46" 1080p, but you need to use a USB external hard drive.

I use my PS3, and I'm happy streaming probably 99% of anything I've ever downloaded.
Only caveat so far is that it doesn't support MKV yet, but that's not an issue if your media server has transcoding support.
I can easily stream Rev3 HD videos from my server with a wired connection, and SD over wireless. HD sometimes works over wireless but sometimes it gets choppy, so I generally stick with wired.

I have a PS3 and I love it for streaming video. I only wish there was a simple way to stream my Apple bought videos. I use TVersity for connecting my PC to the system.
