View Full Version : Issues to trades?
What is the general turn around from when a book first comes out until it is published in trades? I ask this because I am trying to catch up on some things I have missed on certain series before I start collecting the single issues. Is it better to just wait for trades or do they usually have a long turn around and I should just go find the back issues to where a trade left off. Ie if a trade was issues 1-6 and the book is on 15, should I go get 7-15 in singles or is it better to wait until the next trade is out and start collecting from there.

Since I'm such a monthly-holic, that amount of back issues doesn't seem too much. Turnaround for some trades is sometimes about a month after the last issue comes out, so it depends on how bad you want to read the continuing story, as well as your monthly/trade preference.
Think about it cost wise, as well. Nowadays, They release a hardcover before the cheaper softcover, and a hardcover with six issues might run you about 25 bucks, and you'd have to wait up to a few more months later for the softcover. If you buy issues 7-15, that will probably run you about 27 bucks. So it seems youre getting a little more story than you would if you bought the hardcover for only a couple of bucks extra.

It really depends on the publisher. Marvel is very quick but DC and Image take quite a bit.

But often Marvel puts out a hardcover first so it can take quite some time for a softcover trade to come out.

Seems like DC does the same thing but it just takes twice as long to come out.

DC is very slow. They just released the first Sinestro Corps War trade this month!

Don't know about this. Never bought one. Just was comparing to Image or IDW. Often, they put out the trades pretty without that HC nonsense.
