Seems like the exact same website to me except for some window dressing. There is nothing so far, that is functional different for me.

People who follow R3 can easily tell when hitting the main page. Trick out the home page with new photos and reuse older ones on sub-pages.

If I were A.A., I'd be like "cool redesign!, wait what? that's the same hat Patrick always had on... wait a second..."

Just my 2 cents as a web designer. Front page should always be freshest. ;)

If you do not have a monitor with tremendous screen real estate, the main page is actually more of a hindrance to use by having to scroll around to look at everything..

I'd have to disagree with that. I just ran a few tests at 1024x768 and it definitely looks to be designed to that minimum. What resolution are you using?
