Good episode! Arctic Silver is the shizness.

Just a heads up, video editing mistake when Patrick mentions HWmonitor. The lower third says www.wolframalpha.com when it should say www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php

The answer to the dude with the rdram-based machine was pretty much right on the money. He's going to end up replacing everything. He's got a motherboard that is only going to support either a socket 423 or socket 478 Pentium 4 or Celeron, and compared to Core 2 Duo they suck big. The power supply he has will almost certainly not be enough to run a Core 2 Duo box, and it definitely will not have the extra 12 volt connectors and larger main connector that modern motherboards require.

I know this one from personal experience.

Back in the day I decided it was time for an upgrade. At the time, P4 machines with rdram were blowing the doors off everything else. And since I was buying a machine specifically to edit video...a very tough job for even the fastest computers just a few years ago...I bought the biggest and baddest rdram-based system around, which at that time was a Sony product. And it really was the cat's meow. I was definitely King of the Geeks in my circles.

Then DDR came on the horizon, Rambus started suing everyone they could think of, and almost over night manufacturers gave up on rdram. My "state of the art" became "hey, I can prop that door open with that old Sony". The hard drive from that machine now sits in my stack of drives that I use for personal stuff but for security reasons will never allow to leave my possession. The rest of the machine sits in pieces in The Room of Unwanted Systems.

*sigh*

there were many amazing bloopers that didn't make it into the show this week. i can only hope that someday they'll be released on the "Tekzilla: Behind the Music" VH1 special.

In regard to the streaming video segment. I've used justin.tv to set up video streams. It's pretty easy to set up a password protected private stream on their system. and it's free.

I'm sure Tekzilla has done a streaming wedding question before... none the less a good episode :)

I think i will rant a littel bit about the cooling part.
For thermalpaste Arctic Silver 5 i fine, but i wont trust the thermalpaste test at Hardocp, becase you shouldnt trust that site at all becase most of the test are made by people that are getting payed to write that there product are good, seriously see here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=214232&
there are also some stupid thing happen on there forum, like banned peopl that disagree with the reviewer/admin and that sort of things, so i wouldn't trust the review or the site.
Now about CPU coolers and paste you should see this site:http://benchmarkreviews.com/ thay make some RELLY GOOD reviews round-ups of the best CPU coolers and write some good info about paste too, so you all should definitely check the site out, but Madshrimps isnt a bad site i like Madshrimps but this site is the best one of them all and they are the most accuract.
And i think that all i wanted to say!

The beer thing caught me off guard a little.

Incidentally I think it was a friend who said that even cat pee would be drinkable given the ice brewing process. But I digress.

There was me thinking it was Revision3's attempt at rebranding the hosts to coincide with a new website design... I assumed Patrick somehow fought the establishment and managed to remain the same. ;)

Only watch a couple of Revision3 shows, but it does feel like someone's gone through them in recent weeks and made changes, maybe not so much with Tekzilla, but with Diggnation the show is actually fun again.

Anyone else wonder Veronica's "...ever had your hands [zip tied together]... nevermind!" moment was about? Detained in custody? Gettin' freaky at Radio Shack?

I heard she was held at Guantanamo Bay for a few months.

You posted wrong link for HWMonitor why...?

I use that tool to check up some time to time if my laptop is working proper and preventing any bad stuff you never know...

I thought your hair looked different. Even though it was cut, it looks longer now (must have something to do with the part). Either way it is a good look.

Also, I second the release of a Tekzilla blooper reel.

Much alcohol was had that night. :)

I have a million zip ties, but I've never drank alcohol around them. But according to this show, alcohol + zip ties = precarious and embarrassing situations. This is good to know, but I never thought I would learn this from Tekzilla :D.

How did I not know this show existed? I used to watch Patrick on Screensavers. Tekzilla is freakin' fabulous. I am a loyal fan now through Miro! Thanks for all the hard work, guys!

re: Free Wedding Video Streaming!

Use the VLC media player from www.videolan.org (http://www.videolan.org)

It's free, and I think it can take a live camera feed.

re: Rambus and Pentium 4

I think this is why the Pentium 4 wasn't adopted sooner. People waited for the price to come down since Rambus was more expensive than SDRAM. Intel had to go from a 423-pin Rambus Pentium 4 to a 478-pin SDRAM Pentium 4. Also, the chip set had to be changed.

That, plus the Pentium was a change from the then popular 486. That brought on a lot of problems of older software and hardware not working, even more so than just the usual from an OS change. Not everyone was eager to scrap *everything* just to have the latest and greatest.
