I will donate $100 towards the purchase of an air conditioner so that I don't have to keep watching your sweaty faces each week.
Anyone else?

And if their mics can pick up lawn mowers from outside, no doubt they'll pick up the AC noise.

They could just place the camera further back, set it off angle, so we can see some garagey stuff around the edges. Then open the big door for a breeze. It would be like TRS unplugged for the summer. That would be cool. Pun intended.
Or they could even get a smaller green screen set up with the stools and sit out in the garden. That would be nice. You could put the green screen to one side and print a frame for it like this...

Or even hook up a small TV with a green image on it that mike can replace.
Does the show always need to be fully "studio-ized"? It's an interesting question.

The segments aren't that long. They could run the AC for a couple of hours before taping and the entire time between segments, and it should help.
I'm not talking some dinky little window unit either. If enough people donate even small amounts, they could get some pretty impressive equipment that should be able to cool the garage down enough that it doesn't need to be run constantly.
If they need to hire an HVAC consultant and/or if the electricity bill goes up significantly due to running a massive AC unit, donations could help with that, as well.
Maybe they could use some of the government subsidies to get solar panels to power the thing.
If they can find a way to isolate the AC unit enough from the garage that it doesn't make significant noise, they can also clean up the electrical using a power conditioner: http://www.chloridepower.com/en/USA/Products/Technologies/Power-conditioners/.
"Too much noise" is a lame answer. I'll retract my suggestion if you can give me a real reason they can't use AC.

I still can not believe how much people freak out about them sweating and such.
But if they want an AC unit then yay for them.
They prob should just move into another room of the house(screw the garage) so that they have AC either way.

again I say the garage can't keep the heat out, it's not meant to. he would have to insulate the garage which is usually not done when new houses are built. I don't know how much of an issue noise would be but cost is mos def the issue. it's not cheap to insulate a garage and build air ducts from an AC unit located else where to offset noise.
The reason this is an issue for me is that I don't want the show to reflect their discomfort. I don't want them to start rushing through segments because its hot.

This part I agree with. I want them happy, and funny and undistracted.

Yes, lack of insulation could be an issue, but again, enough donations, and cost is not.
Sean Tevis, who ran for a Kansas state representative position, raised $13,068.69 for his campaign by asking people to donate $8.34. $8081.34 of that was comprised of donations of less than $50.

I'm sure it's not the lack of money that they don't get an air conditioner.
Hell, Jeff spent $300 on the Lego Millennium Falcon.

and what a Falcon it was... :D
With Alex talking about moving stuff around or working on the "set" maybe this will be one of the items they take care of so people will stop bitching so much.

I emailed Jeff a while back about an AC unit for the garage. This is what he replied:
"We have one of those. It doesn't do too much in the garage, and we have to turn it off when we shoot due to noise. But thanks for the suggestion!
