I am also trying to make a short zombie film, but I'm not sure on how to make the zombies look convincing enough. Any tips on this would be awesome. Thanks!

What's your approach so far? All I can suggest is LOTS of makeup, dark around the eyes and white contacts if possible, pale skin and blood splotches. Dirty torn up clothes. Messy hair.

Zombies are all in the eyes and the acting. Have you seen Shaun of the Dead? There's a good guide in that on how to act like a zombie :p
Other than some zombie contacts, zombies are just dead humans... so pale, greenish skin and some dirt like they crawled out of the ground. Then vary them up with different injuries. The missing arm is a classic (hide the arm in the clothing and hang a small messed up joint of pork on the end)... get some one to drag their leg with their foot at an awkward angle.... you'll want to make up some stage blood (http://www.faqs.org/faqs/theatre/stagecraft/faq/section-33.html).. you could also get some one to drool the blood or a general slim (liquid starch).
