I would just like to say that I just dont like it when you show the hosts talking and looking at another camera it looks just stupid to me just show the camera that they are looking at or do a better job at telling them when to look at other cameras
I love the show and was glad to see Sarah Lane back I missed her and the small ass video window at the site about her and Brendon's trip the video is just small as hell and looks like crap when I blow it up
also I see that episode 5 is 640x360 16x9 and the others are 640x480 please bring back the 16x9 it looks better on my 16x9 TV even though it is only 360 not 480 it still looks great

I agree, just looks unprofessional, looks like the director or floor manager is not awake.

I'm glad you think there's a floor manager or director...but alas there isn't. It's all done in post production. The B-Cam is really just to break up the look. I guess it could be done with 3 cameras (one for each host) plus one for all three. Or it could be done with less cameras if we had live switching in the control room, a director, a floor director, and a few camera operators. But we don't have any of that. Bottom line...we have 1 camera guy and a producer listening to the audio...that's the crew. I'd love to do a more robust production, but that's just not possible.

As for the 16x9...we're talking about it. Episode 5 was in HD and it was a bear to work with. We might go back to it at CES...it's something we're talking about.

I'm sure if you offered free beer you would get volunteers and get a whole crew. ;)
Otherwise just a marker on their script to look at the other camera and then pick it up in post production.
my 2 cents

There also isn't a script. It's actually real impromptu discussion which is why it is natural. What Hahn was saying is that there is only one camera man operating both cameras. There is the lockoff 3 shot and then he is roaming around with the second camera and constantly moving. The hosts only know that the B cam will be on them for sure when they are tossing to the package, which is why they are looking at it. There is more likehood that they need to be looking at the A camera, because you will see that more. And only a tiny portion of the B cam will be used. The only way to safely have a B cam that everyone could look at would require each host to have their own camera plus an additional 3 shot. Otherwise it would all have to be scripted out, and we would lose the "real" element.

i wish i could help, live in okla. thats is what i would do just for fun.
yea, a full production crew would be nice but now we know what you've got to work with.
compared to kev and alex"s single frontal view, big big difference.
throwing my 2 cents in, i would just leave the side views out and go with the wideshot of all 3 host for breaking up any single views. one camera on speaker front and one on group. so you just need to fix on speaker with one cameraman.
you could put a little red light above the camera so you know which one is on too.

so I just have to look away when this happens because I love the show and the content but I just cant watch it when they are not looking at the camera
I dont know what it is but it makes me feel wierd to watch this like that and I just look away or take a toke and it is over but I still got the good info in the show
I know this sounds stupid but I find my self getting angry and then laughing at my self like who cares what the camera angle is like its not like its pron and I cant see because the camera guy is pointing it somewhere else hahaha

Duuuude, I agree it looks silly. But it's probably the last thing on their mind when they're on camera. I just started preparing to do a vlog at the company I work with, and once I got over being panicked at the sight of the 2 cameras I went straight to forgetting about them and worrying whether I was speaking clearly, my fly was open or my shirt was too low-cut.

I don't see what the big deal is. I like the second camera look and you see it all the time on tv now a days. It doesn't look like they are looking at the wrong camera. Looking at the wrong camera is when its like a news broadcast and they point to a camera and the person talking doesn't see it and keeps talking at the wrong one and then notices and switches.
Keep up the good work and the good camera work. It all looks really professional.

They're delivering quality, original content for FREE! And, they're doing a bang up job of it. Why does there always have to be someone who picks out something inane, and complains about it? Again I mention, it's FREE. Who cares where they point their cameras?

It is one thing to threaten to stop watching over something as trivial but it is another, very much appreciated i imagine. thing to offer criticism in order to improve the show.

We listen to all criticism. We're talking about adding another camera like the CES episode, so there's less profile shots. The entire team agrees it looks better...we knew that from the start, but haven't figured out how to accomplish it without adding bodies to the crew. We'll figure it out...whether it's a second locked camera or something. The goal of InDigital has always been to look like a broadcast quality show, but online. We'll achieve that goal eventually.

It's pointed out because it looks silly. And it does look silly. The problem is that the way the show is cut, it doesn't look 'edgy' (Hello Wil!) but rather as though the cast just doesn't know where to look at. On the other hand, it's certainly a testament to the production staff that the only major nit I can pick about the visual style of the show is about camera angles :D
Perhaps the cuts should be scripted.

Who are you, Cecil B. Demille?
I like the "raw" look and sound of InDigital. I always have. It makes it feel authentic.

Nah, better than Leo in that respect - I'm ambidextrous.
Oh, and since we are veering off topic - Wil, that shirt...

I agree with ellerbestyle. I also like the camera work and it does look very professional. It's amazing that just one guy can do all that work and make it look that good. Wow!
