Ok, so I have had a 360 for a while now and love it do death. However, after the E3 episode and Jeff's comment that everything exciting is happening on the PS3, I am contemplating picking one up. However, when I look at Metacritic, most of the top games are available on both systems. Is it really worth picking up a PS3 for the few games that are not available on both systems?

Only if you need a Blue-Ray Player.

Honestly, for me, the experience of playing Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Pixel Junk Eden, and Ratchet and Clank was already well worth the price of the PS3.

Uncharted is one of the best games I've ever played. I loved every minute of it. I'm so excited for Uncharted 2. Killzone 2 is freaking amazing, too. I know the TRS guys weren't super-enthusiastic about it on the show, but it's the best FPS I've ever played. I was less impressed with LittleBigPlanet, but maybe that's just me. It's not really my speed.

If you don't have a Blu-ray player and you're a gamer, the PS3 is a no-brainer, I think.

With inFamous, I surpassed the number of 360 exclusives i own with my PS3 exclusives. Then again, I've come to the realization that I don't have that many games this generation in comparison to others. But with its BluRay, if HD matters to you, I think owning both systems is worth the money spent. And don't think that games with an average rating below 9 is bad. The 80-89 PS3 games have been my favorite which includes Uncharted and inFamous.

Not a huge gamer but love my PS3 especially as media player. Blu-rays looks amazing on my Samsung 52 inch plus it plays divx/xvid so i can d/l episodes of shows and watch them directly on my tv. All I do is put them on a USB stick and plug and play. Watching Season 2 of Damages. Before I couldn't do anything like that.

I do wish I could play Left4Dead, Gears of War which are both on the 360 but I like the titles coming out on the PS3 that the TRS guys talked about.

Currently the games I have for the PS3 are

COD4
Madden 09
MGS4
Orange Box
Resident Evil 5

Ive been thinking about this too, lots of PS3 I'd like to play.. but the PS3 is rumoured to get a price drop in October.. it's certainly well overdue for one. Personally I'm not in a hurry.. the games aren't going anywhere and they'll only get cheaper.

Yeah good point. I sort of see it as stock piling games for future play. I mean its not like I have a shortage of games to play on my 360. Heck I am still only half way through GTA4 and Fallout 3.

I think perhaps I am feeling the itch to try the PS3 cause my 360 is being repaired right now. I am having video game withdrawls.

I think you could wait a year, and get stuff cheape, and some of the exclusives will still be pretty new and whatnot.

I'm holding off for a price drop before I make a move on a PS3.

I may not love the PS3 but i have to say both Uncharted and Little Big Planet make me glad i do own the system.

The blu ray adds to that of course.

I also think this past E3 was really good for sony and the PS3 so maybe hold out a little longer like the holidays.

I think the current price point for the PS3 is sort of ridiculous. I mean Blu-Ray is great and everything (well actually I don't really care about blu-Ray as I haven't rented or bought a movie on disc in about 5 years and it seems to me like optical media is becoming a dead technology) but there just doesn't seem to me to be that much of a bonus to owning a PS3 over an XBOX now that all of the major games are on XBOX.

Question: is the reason that some games are only on PS3 because those game companies get their game development funding from Sony? What makes some games like MGS and Final Fantasy, now available on XBOX, but games like God Of War aren't?

God of war is a Sony game. From their studios and such.

Not just a third party company.

That is what keeps the system wars alive, companies have their own titles(gears of war? Mario?)

Ditto, but now that the slim seems likely I might just wait for that.

Although I don't know if I have the constitution to stick to that, with the list of PS3 exclusives that I really want to play growing by the month; currently MSG4, LBP, Killzone 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Infamous, The Last Guardian, Heavy Rain, God of War 3 and Pixel Junk Eden/Shooter...it's not exactly a short list.
