Well ok, I sound like someone who needs to learn the basics of the English Language. But as a newbie, this would have been my first ComicCon had I not procrastinated by waiting until the last minute.

So, I am wondering if I should make the Trek anyways (from San Francisco), in hopes that the sold out signs are just a ploy to show popularity ... what are my chances of getting in if I just go.

I know slim ... any thoughts?

It means that all passes as of this minute are sold out. There are no multi-day passes and no single day passes available. There has been talk that they're going to sell a few more tickets a week or two before the Con. Keep your eyes open.

If you end up pass-less, you could always make the trek and try to scalp some tickets but I'm not sure if there's a scalping market at Comicon.

I have no experience with this. Good luck.

I don't know, I mean where do you live? On the one hand, you could probably find some tickets if you really tried, but on the other, if you come all the way out, just to not get in, that would really suck. I'd probably wait until next year.

Are volunteer passes still open? If so, there's an option, although scalping might work too.

I'm writing in response to one of your listeners who was asking for advice regarding those who are too late to get tickets to SDCC. There are ways to do so. First of which would by by way of volunteering. You can inquire about volunteering as an event coordinator (either through the venue or the event coordinators). It is likely that they are already full of volunteers, but it is worth the inquiry. You may also route your through volunteering by finding out what organizations that are at SDCC that will need volunteers. Best example is the annual blood drive at Con. You're going to have to google what organization that is, because it's a local SD organization and not the Red cross.
Another way to get in is by kissing ass. You probably know someone working a booth that has a spare EXHIBITOR pass. That was my first way into SDCC was by using a spare SDCC Exhibitor pass. I'm sure you have someone, anyone, on your friends list that is working in the industry, or at least working tangentially to the industry.

I do know of some instances where people employed at various notable networking firms (myspace, facebook, etc.) just had to show a business card, and was provided with a fill-out sheet and a badge. Just something to consider.

If you do intend to purchase an after market badge, you'll have to wait mid-day on day 1 (thursday) since most attendees won't be able to get their badges until midmorning. Any badges acquired prior are most likely counterfeit. Buyer beware.
I hope this is helpful, and hope you find your way to SDCC this year or the next.

BTW.. i'm a big ol' n00b to the forums. hi!
