Hi this is driving me nuts, I've been trying for 30-45 minutes to do this:

I select and copy my image from photoshop to illustrator thats fine.

If I select the image in illustrator and get the new brush window up.

Select New Pattern Brush, I get the following message:

"The Selected artwork contains an element that cannot be used in a pattern brush"

looking around the net they say I need to create a "Bounding Box" around the image I cannot workout how to create a Bounding Box around the image, can anybody help??

From the CS3 Help Section:

"You can create new calligraphic, scatter, art, and pattern brushes based on your own settings. For scatter, art, and pattern brushes, you must first create the artwork you want to use. Follow these guidelines when creating artwork for brushes:
The artwork cannot contain gradients, blends, other brush strokes, mesh objects, bitmap images, graphs, placed files, or masks.

For art and pattern brushes, the artwork cannot contain type. To achieve a brush-stroke effect with type, create an outline of the type and then create a brush with the outline.

For pattern brushes, create up to five pattern tiles (depending on the brush configuration), and add the tiles to the Swatches panel. "

Any of that cover it?

You can create a brush from artwork you just have to convert it from a solid image to like outlines, I managed to do this by using live paint, I mean how did they get the original brushes in Photoshop originally these are artwork/Image.

As it turned out when I did managed to do it, it looked so rubbish, I gave up, I was trying to get the brush (Image with text in it) around a circular path, so as I said I scrapped the idea in the end.

but thanks for replying :)
