Creating your own equipment

I know in the previous show Ryan mentioned about coming up with shows about other things then effects. I was wondering about making your own equipment. For instance I am currently in the process of making my own Glidecam. I think this would be a great example of create making your own equipment on low/no budget.

What exactly is a glidecam? I am familiar with a ghetto steadycam a steadicam and a dolly but I've never heard of a glidecam. As far as making your own equipment I think they should totally show some of that if they have experience, I think the Film Riot guys don't really need to though because they have the use of Triune's equipment.
