Although this show has been off the air for more than 10 years, I feel it deserves a thread in the Totally Rad forums.

I am happy to see that Jeff is a huge fan of Mr. Show. I guess it sort of makes sense now, but I thought that nobody liked it. Mr. Show is my favorite sketch comedy and possibly favorite show that has ever been. Brilliant writing and acting and I can still watch any episode or listen to any commentary and laugh hysterically even though I have seen each one 10+ times.

Seeing those two sets in Jeff's collection made me very happy. That show is easily my favorite sketch comedy show of all time. It was some time during the second season when a friend of mine brought by a recording of the show so I'd know the source of all the jokes he kept referencing. After that new episodes were an event, and the majority of my circle of friends would show up every week to watch, even during the fourth season where HBO made the bizarre decision that the perfect time slot for new Mr Show episodes was Monday night at 10 PM.

I do miss the days where I could drop "My shoes hurt" into any conversation and was guaranteed to get "My shoes hurt too dad" in response.

Those are among my most rewatched DVDs in my collection. Anyone that hasn't seen the show should make the effort to check it out. It's worth it. Take it from me, I love you. ;)

Hey look everybody! It's Bob and David!

Whenever my girlfriend and I travel, and we have to go through Customs or at the airport, we always reenact the "shampoo" skit to ourselves.

I love "Choo-Choo" the Hurkey Jerkey Dancer

Definitely awesome stuff. Have the DVDs. I'm a huge Monty Python fan and they're like The Beatles of this stuff, but I am a HUGE Kids in the Hall fan and would have to put them as my #1. Mr. Show is right up there, however and people should check it out if they like such things.

Really great stuff - website for them guys http://www.bobanddavid.com/

Don't want to go too far off topic as this is a Mr. Show thread, but I'll be checking out Michael & Michael Have Issues tonight - props to The State.

I am convinced the climbing of Everest story/thimble collection sketch is the best comedy sketch of all time.

I recall it being 12:05 a.m at one point too. I like how the dvd's have the air date and mention the weeks the show was on 'hiatus' when HBO bumped them for whichever reason, alo mentioning the reason.

I don't buy dvd's ever, but I bought them on release days.

I just rewatched Run Ronnie Run the other week, again.

The Sarah Silverman programme is a nice lil second cousin to MrShow.

Does anyone have the book that goes with the show?? I picked it up in a bookstore and looked at it and it looks great.

Haha - I love when the father pushes the mother back down and yells, "NOOOO! No one help him! Let Thomas do it himself this time!"

Has anyone seen The Ben Stiller Show? It's not even close to the brilliance of Mr Show, but there are definitely moments. Bob Odenkirk was on it for the entire run, and David Cross shows up late in the series. It has one of my favorite Odenkirk sketches ever, the Manson sketch.

Mr. Show is one of the greatest shows EVER.

I love old-timey humor, so when I saw their mockumentary on Mega-phone Crooning, I completely fell in love.

Ben Stiller show kicked ass too! I totally want to ride The Doors Ride in Oliver Stone Land.

Here is my claim to fame with David Cross. First off, I hate living in Arkansas. I used to try and make the best of it by being a big part of the music scene, hosting 4 radio shows on a Little Rock community radio station, etc. I hyped that David Cross was coming to Little Rock on my radio show for a few months before it happened. As the date got nearer, my anticipation grew, as he is tied as my favorite comedian, along with Zach Galifianiakis. In reality there was no way the reality could match what I was building up in my own head. Having said that, and even with knowing how Little Rock or even Arkansas is, I never would have expected what did take place.

I filmed the entire show myself(so I have the full show whereas on the DVD there is only all the clips of people screaming like baboons), and by the end of it, I was physically ill. I have never been so embarrassed by other people's actions that were near me, ever, in my whole life.

Imagine that an idol of yours is coming to your town. On arriving, said idol is treated like crap, disrespected, and generally made to feel like there is no point in them being there. Now imagine how you would feel.

Well, traumatized, I jumped on the stage as David made his escape out the side door of the club(Vino's Pizza Pub) and followed him out into the cold night to whole heartidly appolagise for all of the idots who had proceeded to lambaste my favorite comic. I selfishly gave him a cassette of my comedy/music radio show called 'The Chest Brockwell Show' where myself and my best friend played characters called the Brockwell brothers and left the place feeling ashamed at the city I lived in.

I am providing a clip of the DVD that showcases the incident, and at 0:40 to about 0:45 you can see my appolagising to David. I am the guy that had the long hair(short now).

Also of note: On my part the last thing you hear David say is " Naw, it's cool man..." but what was cut off on that scene is he said, "Naw, it's cool man... It's just good to know that not everyone here tonite was a complete fucking moron."

Yay, David says I am not a complete fucking moron.... Kind words indeed. :P

Do so. Easily in the top 5 sketch comedy shows of all time. The members of this esteemed club would be : Mr Show, Monty Python, The State, Upright Citizens Brigade, & Saturday Night Live or "The not quite ready for primetime players".

The members are not really debateable, but I will concede on letting you all pick the order of importance/bringing the funny.

And Judd Apatow was a writers assistant. Ben Stiller show was pretty great. His Die Hard and Last Of The Mohicans rips wre pantspissingly funny. I still have one episode on tape.

I think I've heard somewhere Odenkirk saying that was his favorite sketch ever too.

I'm sorry, and congratulations. I have the DVD. It was bad. But, wasn't the only bad show/city.

Start at season 1. Enjoy. DO IT. DO IT NOW. Senator Tankerbell says so, even he accepts 'ART' now.

Also, David Cross has 2 HBO specials that are kick-arse. Odenkirk directed a movie that he saw as a play called, Melvin Goes To Dinner. It's great lil movie, but not the kind of movie you'd think.

Mr. Show is one of the few TV shows that I found it necessary to buy on DVD. Along with Firefly, Strangers with Candy, Extras, The Office (BBC), and Arrested Development. I'd also like to get the complete run of Trailer Park Boys. I always thought that the way Mr. Show would circle back and cross reference the skits was pretty brilliant.

Yep, all of those are in my collection too, not counting The Office, and it's only a matter of time before I get that one as well. Strangers with Candy is a great bit of insanity. It deserves much more attention than it gets.

Great call. Very stange and out of the ordinary character for Bob. Love when he gets the job answering the info-line. I think he's introduced as the photo developer getting chocolate on Cross' tops secret NASA photos.

One of my fav Cross characters, - "there is nothing I would LOVE more than another box of your DELICIOUS cereal". Or,... "nevER. NEVer. NEVER. neverver. nerver...", [then he gets hit in the balls]....oh speaking of Cross getting hit. The HBO hidden videos commercial showing John what'shisname playing a nanny who wails on Cross. Holyfuck that is funy when he lets his body go limp as he's getting hit. Also like the 'Sovereign Nation episode when Cross is buying things from himself with rocks and twigs.

Nevermind, this thread is hard. Mr.Show is awesome.
