im looking into getting a netflix box. i have a ps3 so i dont really want an xbox. the roku looks nice and cheap but its been stale for a while and maybe they are gonna upgrade the hardware. what else is there? that isnt built into a blu ray play or a game system since i have both?

ive also been pondering building a media center pc to stream hulu and netfix. maybe rip my blu ray as well. or just buy a intel mac mini as my media center. opinions?

my setup currently involves an apple tv, ps3, Toshiba VCR, Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HDC cable box, and my tv is a 37in Viewsonic N3735w.

Great to have Robert and Patrick back doing a show together.
Would be great to see them compare a download from Netflix, AppleTV and Xbox and look at compression and other picture quality issues. I've always wondered who does the compression of the films and TV shows for digital distribution. Are they all the same?

I have a Roku box and I absolutely love it. Not only does it do Netflix it also will play Amazon on Demand. There is a fairly good selection on either one for HD. If you like movies/documentaries/tv shows its worth the small $99 price tag(and yearly sub to netflix)

I too have a Roku device for streaming Netflix. I have used PlayOn... a server running on a Windows machine for streaming Netflix and Hulu to the PS3, but I was constantly having issues... most notably DRM issues. Also, using PlayOn, I was unable to get HDTV. The interface on the PS3 was not the greatest either. Roku is very simple to operate and much higher quality. Some Netflix content is HD and looks pretty good on a the 32" screen in the bedroom. I'm debating on getting a second Roku for the main TV... where the PS3 is currently connected. I really wish Roku would also carry Hulu.

I believe the answer is 'TiVo' (either the HD or Series 3, at least).
