Hello!

I have a little bit of a problem with a separate laptop LCD screen... But let's get to the heart of the thing first! I happen to own a separate WXGA (1280x800) LCD screen from my old G4 Mac notebook. It has all the cabling in place and not damaged (pictures included - two cables on the left side of the screen & one on the right). I was wondering if there's a way of connecting it to my current DELL laptop PC (XPS M1530) to use as a second screen? I belive that there's got to be a way of doing it, the question is though - how & is it worth my bother?

So, to summarise if anyone would know the way of doing it relatively cheap I'd appreciate any help or guide. Thanks in advance!

Ow, I almost forgot to add that my laptop has free HDMI, IEEE 1394a, analog VGA, S-Video & USB ports available for the (hopefully succesfull) connection.

Yes, it is possible, but no its not worth the time, cost, or effort involved ... especially since you can get a better resolution external monitor cheaper than the cost of the the parts you'd need to build something to drive the LCD, and the graphics driver you'd need to write to drive the interface.

Thanks!

Well, it may not be an answer that I was looking for but at least it's straight forrward and saves me wasting time looking for a sollution for something that cannot be dealt with reasonably anyway.

Thanks again!
