First a very big thank you and hearty congratulations on a totally awesome producion. Moreover for making it FOC to struggling Designers like Myself.

Bert is King - but man I'm soooo jealous of that Wacom Cintiq!

I'm not quite sure how to contact Bert directly so I 'm hopeful that somehow he may stumble upon this thread or maybe someone in the know can contact him with regard to doing a show on hair. I am just one of maybe thousand of voices that have been photoshopping for nearly a decade and 'my hair is still a mess!' ;)

Would love a tutorial on both painting and extracting hair or maybe combining the two. Particularly extraction when the subject is set against a non-contrasy background. I have sometimes spent days creating and merging channel masks.Playing with layer masks painting and erasing and still never get it 100%even after dodging or burning the end results to suit the new background.

I have created painting layers on top and 'painted in strands' above which I have placed cloned samples from the extraction or used textures and clipped them to the paint layer which ultimately I will merge with the extraction to adjust lighting etc. But still I feel the end results aren't quite there.

So pleeze, Pleeze,Pleeze mister Monroy - hear my prayer!

Just email him on bert@revision3.com - it's by far the easiest way to contact him, by the sounds of it.

I'd also love to hear how to give good hair, as it were. Hair's always been a problem, either looking visibly too air-brushed when feathered, or an absolute mess when not.

HINT: If you study the brush engine and pen tool, you would get an idea of how to make hair. Bert gives demos on each of them in his revision 3 movies. You have to use them both in concert to make your hair. ;)

Discover some amazing things you can create with custom brushes in Adobe Photoshop CS and CS2. Learn these techniques from my special guest instructor, John McConnell. Also, special thanks to David Nagel for creating these custom brushes for this demo. These brushes work best with a Wacom tablet.

Note: After downloading the brushes, simply double-click on the file named (Nagel Hair Brushes.abr), and the custom brushes will be automatically loaded into your library of brushes. Remember, these custom brushes will only work with Adobe Photoshop CS and CS2!

if the hair is looking too airbrushed try adding a texture to it as well as highlights and shadows using the dodge and burn tool. I'm not sure what texture to really use, if i think of one ill mention it, but just play around and you may find something that works.
