Contacting moderators

If I want to PM a moderator about something, but don't have a specific person in mind, how do I do I find one? I tried looking in the list of currently active users, but the usernames all look the same. Also, are certain moderators assigned to certain forums? If so, how can I tell who is assigned to a particular forum? Thanks.

Note: I'm already aware of the report post feature, so this wouldn't be for that. For example, at the moment I want to make sure that a particular action wouldn't violate the rules.

If you scroll to the bottom of a forum page, you will (mostly) see a section that says "moderators".

The people listed are the ones who generally look after a particular forum. Now, not all mods are created equal ... some of us have more power in more places than others ;) ... and then you have admins who shift mountains, and drain oceans.
