The first episode was OK but this show reminds me of the dreaded software systm episodes that plaged our favourite web show. The software episodes could put me to sleep, this show does the same except quicker. It's heavy on the ad's and low on the content(What I saw of it anyway).

Thanks guys I really needed the sleep.

Mike.

It's an informative show about audio and video. How would YOU make it captivating?

Needs more systm...

I was hating on this show just for the fact that systm had to die for it to be created, but if I can get past that the show isn't bad. It doesnt compare to systm, but if they bring systm back I may start watching this show regularly as well.

They are completely different shows. I don't think you can do a whole lot more than talk and show hardware (like the blu-ray player review).

Yeah, what are they gonna do, mod a TV? What would that even be?

I liked the show, both of them, and I look forward to next. I hope the show becomes a "How to" rather than a product review show. I was not happy to see Systm go but I a new HDTV so i'm pumped.

In some ways it reminds me of InDigital, which I was not happy to learn how that was killed.

I find this somewhere in the middle on the entertainment scale between Tekzilla and Co-op, roughly where Systm used to be and where HAK5 still is. It's useful for those who have or are interested in getting HDTVs, Blu-ray players, etc.

I find Tekzilla very entertaining. The presenters laugh with each other and so on. They only ever cover the very basics but I watch it for entertainment, not education. TRS and Diggnation also fall under this category.

Far in the other direction, I find co-op mind numbing. It's just a bunch of guys having boring conversations about their Nintendo DS and iPhone. I don't have either so neither of those applies to me. I don't know how people can take the amazement that is games and turn it into such boredom.

Anyway, I'm not posting this to have a go at co-op, I'm posting it to say that HD Nation could be a lot less entertaining.

My only gripe with HD Nation is that it is too short, making it something like 50% adverts.

Seems like HDNation should be a section of another show

it makes me laugh when people dog on something thats totaly free so before bashing it try making something better / more entertaining yourself or just dont click the fecking play button

like any subject based specific show its never going to cater for the masses
but if your into high deff then it pretty much covers all the bases.

and for godsake guys its only into its second episode so give the guys a break

If nobody complained about things, nothing would ever get improved.

One of the most annoying things about free things is that if you try to complain about a bad feature of it, you get flamed with lots of "its free so you aren't allowed to complain".

For example, there are about 4 or 5 MythTV clients and they are all complete crap but there is no commercial alternative so short of making your own, complaining is all you can do and if you try, you get flamed.

Still, I agree that if you don't like a show just don't watch it. For example, regarding my comments about co-op in this thread, I watched 2 or 3 co-ops and stopped watching - I never complained in the co-op forum (this is the first time I have mentioned it). Boredom obviously appeals to some people, just not me.

The best time to improve a show is when it is brand new though. HD Nation could actually get more entertaining because of this thread, though personally I think it is fine the way it is. Perhaps get them some bar stools or something instead of the awkward standing in the middle of the floor with their hands by their sides and make the show a bit longer, but that's it.

My basic problem with this thread is not the fact that there is a complaint (or "constructive criticism" which is just fancy talk for trying to justify your whining), but that the complaint is that this isn't another show. THAT show reach the end of its life and had jumped the shark long ago.

This is a new show. Its not the same show. Don't expect it to be.

My point was (and still is) it's as boring as Patrick and Rodgers software shows. If it was a systm episode I'd still fell the same. The show is heavy on the ad's and light on the content. People are only excited because its new.

This show is just a rehash of the old DL.TV back when these two were a team, Nothing but the technology has changed. And DL.TV has gone really quiet, If that didn't last then, how will this last now.

How is that helpful? I've been waiting for Robert and Patrick to start doing another show together since Pat left DL.TV. And I'm not sure who this "Rodger" guy is but I really enjoy when Roger co-hosts or makes an appearance. Sure there was some boring material on Systm, but setting up computer/tech equipment isn't always exciting. Just because it isn't exciting doesn't mean its not worthwhile or good. And I thought they did a great job of switching things up from week to week. Flamethrowers to NAS to robots. If you just want to complain then why not head over to Youtube? Seems like the place for it...

The problem is that Systm was suppose to be a DIY show, not a "how to install som simple pointless software show" .

Watching episode 1 of HDNation (even though i swore i'd never do) I can only agree with kiwifrog.

The show definitly is not for me. Boring, low on content, and telling you stuff you probably alredy knew.
... so its exacly like The "software install" versions of Systm . Waste of my time, even if its free.

This new show, in my opinin, sure as hell wasnt worth kiling Systm over.

(...but since when do Rev3 care about what the users think in the forums anyway...)

Systm Episode 2: Setting up MythTV

With a show like Systm every week will appeal to different people. I liked Systm too but I'm excited about the new show as well.

If it's boring to you, chances are you're not interested in HD tech. I am, and I like the show. I actually wish it would get more technical, which to you would probably mean more boring. The only part I find boring is the new releases section where they just list the releases. That's easily findable online. I wish they would quickly review new titles that they've actually watched and comment on the sound and transfer quality.

Yeah, a review would be much better than just a list. I can get a list from my local video rental store.

It saddens me how small some people think. Can we not see past what's put in front of us? The shows aren't free... not even close. See all those ads thrown at you? You have to put up with them because you are paying for the show by watching them. If you don't watch the ads the show goes away and you can no longer watch it.

Nothing is free, and If I am paying for the show, whether it be with tangible cash or my time as in this case, I want what I am paying for. If they don't give that to me I have every right to complain. They got paid for me watching the ad but I got a mediocre show in return.

I am not complaining about this show because I find it somewhat interesting, but I simply wanted to get the point across that it is a common misconception that the shows on this site are "free."

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration, you make it sound like you're being very put-out by having ads (which you could easily skip if you wanted to).

I will agree, though, that just because something is free (and it IS free; your precious 30 seconds are not that valuable, I don't care who you are) doesn't mean that the creators don't find feedback to be valuable.

It is important, but not for the reason you give.

I personally love the show. Pat and Robert have a great chemistry together (they worked great together at DLTV). I think the show should be left exactly the way it is.

I'm a Hd fan, I service Hd tv's for a living (It is called Full HD in New Zealand, HD is only 720 lines), I know more about the workings of a HD tv's than just about any pleb watching this show. Systm was more to my taste, some real Tech.

This show is just a pare of Tech Bloggers that can read spec sheets. That doesn't make them experts. The gap between the Sale's BS these two spout and how these sets really work is remarkable. Well I'll give Robert his due's, some of his info is spot on.

I'm with the guys asking for a longer show, more tech specs, less listing and to the T reviews, PQ and AQ FTW!! More field trips and Pat needs a new house so we can have a step by step in home cinema creation, the model example, like the Tool Time Man's Kitchen and Bathroom, we need a THX cream in your pants Theatre Room! The Bob Vila of refurnishing your living room's definition.

I agree on the new release stuff. Some comments on how good/bad the new titles on Blu-ray are would be nice. It sucks to see a new title out, rush out and buy it, then find out it's so good.
