I just got a new iPod shuffle for Christmas and I am having a problem. I can't seem to get it to play any of my podcasts. It will play all my music just fine but when I put any podcasts on it they load on perfect, they just won't play, and the shuffle will tell me (through it's blinking light codes) that there isn't any music on it. Anyone else have this problem or know what I am doing wrong.

What format are the podcasts in?

They were in mp3 but I even tryed converting them into AAC. When you put them into AAC format does it delete the mp3 version, because if not I may have put the same one on twice.
I know I am just doing something stupid, I just can't figure out what it is.
I've experienced a similar situation. Question: did you import the podcasts into iTunes, THEN drag them to your iPod? If not, give it a shot.
I downloaded some iTunes-formatted video clips before and they wouldn't show up on the iPod after dragging them directly from my desktop to my iPod in iTunes. I had to import them into my iTunes video library first I believe.

All my podcasts are downloaded in itunes, then from there i just drag it on to my iPod.

Try putting the podcasts into a specific playlist.
Then, set your ipod shuffle preferences to only auto-fill from that playlist.

I have tried that also, but it won't take the podcasts from the playlist. It doesn't have a problem taking music though.

Is the ipod shuffle's software updated to the latest version?
Also, try setting the shuffle to play in order only.

Playing in order only worked! Thanks, I can finally use my shuffle for what I wanted it for.
Why can't it be in shuffle mode though? Seems kinda weird.

I think it is a known flaw in the shuffle that they can't play podcasts in shuffle mode. But I don't know the cause. Glad it works for you.

Does the shuffle preload the next song for you to decrease loading times? because maybe than it would make sense, because it couldn't preload a whole podcast. Anyways yeah, works great.
