I about nerdgasm'd when I saw the crappy version on youtube. I most definitely nerdgasm'd when I saw it in HD. So excited for this movie.

The teaser looked hella good but my only question is how does it fit in with the first. Other than Flynn being in both?

Is that really a young version of him on the bike? I loved the effects and look. I'll be seeing this movie for sure!

It's a program that looks like a young version of him. Is it an updated Clu?
The original take I read on the sequel had Flynn continuing to live in the program world at some point after the MCP was defeated and going Colonel Kurtz crazy. This trailer definitely does not invalidate that possibility.

The more that comes out about this movie, the more excited I get. This trailer is beautiful too.

I hate to be the Moose in the room, Poo Pooing on this but...
The trailer is usually the best of the best they have, and there are things I just don't like.
After the Cycle is smashed and he goes sliding on the ground. When he goes flopping over the edge, and grabs on. That was the cheesiest piece CGI I have seen. A agree with the boys, Light Cycles are supposed to go straight and then his a 90 angle. The swerving, I didn't dig.
Don't get me wrong. I am excited to see this, but I hope it isn't going to ruin the memory of a almost perfect movie from my childhood, The way that G.I. Joe looks like it is going to.

I hate to burst your bubble but light cycles did curve in the original movie. When they are avoiding the tanks and driving along the canyon wall they are curving. The only time they drive at 90 degree angles is on the game grid.

I went to the flynns arcade deal at comic con and without a doubt that got the blood cookin...
I can not wait to see this movie.
I do kinda agree I'm a bit worried about the bikes moving more becuase that was so big in the first one to me.
but moving all crazy can be fun an such..an upgrade to the new bike blah blah...so yea

dude, don't even COMPARE this to the abortion that will be GI Joe. That movie isn't even going to TRY and be true to it's intellectual property. At least Tron: Legacy is ATTEMPTING to be something other than a cornball cash grab.

Does the original Tron still hold up if you watch it again now? Like is it full of goofy and totally wrong terms for the computer world, or do the effects just not work these days? A friend mentioned that he had never seen the original, and I'm wondering if showing it to him now, especially since he has no nostalgia for it, would actually make him lose interest in seeing the new one... trust me, he can be like that.

You see I disagree for one major reason, Tron was released in 1982 and the games, including the Light Cycles, were representative of what games were (and near future) like in 1982. Jump to 2009 and if a game released today only allowed you to make 90 degree turns it would be ridiculed and called dated. They are just updating the Tron games to be what they would be like in 2009.

I feel that if you didn't see it when it came out it will not of aged well. It's a film that's kind of like a crazy old uncle. Nice to visit from time to time and remember the good times, but damn if it isn't batshit crazy.

Light cycles didn't just do 90 degree turns in the original. They only did that on the grid. Once they broke out and escaped they swerved all over the place. If you doubt that, watch that youtube video that guy linked, or just go watch the whole movie again.

I watched it for the first time a couple of days ago and thought it was still good for it's age. Just gotta go in realizing that it is a film from the 80s so certain things can be forgiven. The art design helps it hold up though and they don't use a lot of technical jargon or show a lot of old technology that might make it feel even more dated.
Love Tron - had to see it at the time at that age. Epic.
It was impossible to tell in the fuzzy version from last year, but I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed it's going to be full CG (the "in-game" portion). I still want to have live performers enhanced to look like they are in the machine.
Part of charm of the original - and it was of course due to the tech restraints of the time and they didn't want to do a cartoon - was that it was real people in this crazy glowing world of hockey helmets and awesome frisbee water. Still very psyched.

Same thing happened with my wife as well. So when I found out, we Netflixed it. She enjoyed the movie, but had a hard time with the effects in the movie, but still enjoyed it.
When I mentioned how excited I was about the new Tron movie my wife just rolled her eyes and went "Ooooh .. kaaaaay ..." She has many other fine qualities. We shall forgive this trespass.
