Weird audio lag w. samsung blu-ray player

so my dad finally got my mom convinced that it was a good idea to spend 1500+€ at a decent home theater setup (of course I'm in college now so I wont enjoy it but my younger brother will...) but when I tried to watch some movies (DVDs and blu-rays) on the system there was this annoying lag between the audio and the picture.
The blu-ray is a Samsung BD-P1580 and the amp is a fairly new Yamaha 7.1 with support for Dolby TrueHD and all that stuff. The blu-ray player is connected to the amp via hdmi wich is then connected to the 2yr old 32" Philips LCD via hdmi aswell.

I tried to connect the player straight to the tv but the lag was still there and after trying to change the settings on the player i just decided to do the honorable thing and ask the internet for help... So please any suggestions to what could make this problem go away would be most appreciated.

Have you tried connecting the player to the amp using any thing but HDMI? Optical or digital coax perhaps?

thanks for the suggestion Boris, but we're too late to try to find a solution, my dad took the samsung back to the store and replaced it with a sony player that works flawless.. Thanks for the help though!
