AKA: How Diamond Comics screwed over Marvel.

It was brought up in the Captain America: Reborn #2 thread, but I want to see if anyone else got this as well.

Apparently Diamond shipped out Ed Brubaker's and Steve Epting's new story together, The Marvels Project, a week ahead of schedule. This is coming from my LCS owner, so I can't say if it's 100% true or not. But apparently, either Diamond or Marvel wanted LCS owners to get the first issue early so they can prepair a 'party' for the release of the mini. Again I can't say for sure that is the real reason behind this, but so far there are 2 LCS's that I know of that got the mini early.

So people in New Jersey and maybe other areas were able to read Marvels big, new story before it's offical release. Did anyone else see this in their LCS when they got their comics today? Does anyone else think that this could be a really bad thing for the company? I mean you don't see DC releasing 'Final Crisis' before it's suppose to come out. Let me know how it went down in your LCS tonight.

My LCS is actually doing something similar. On Tuesday, my LCS is also having a party and releasing the first issue early. I'm not sure is they already have it now, though. I'll have to ask them tomorrow.

my LCS is having a 9:00 p.m. release next Tuesday for Marvels Project. Also a 70% off all Marvel softcovers for 1 hour only. Man I have the best LCS in the world. ACME comics Greensboro NC.

My store had them in stock today so i picked one up, haven't read it yet though.

EDIT: Finished reading it and it definitely delivers! Had an awesome time with it and it left me wanting more.

Don't think it was at the store, but mine's also doing a party on Tuesday, I'll probably go there, get Marvel Project, and maybe some other stuff if their sale's that good. :D

I work at my LCS, and the reason they shipped early is so that they can be sold the day of marvels 70th anniversary. (the same day as all the barns and noble signings.) However, all LCS's were not supposed to sell them until that date. We got the email about an hour after opening, so ours were on the racks for about that long. In any case, I read the issue and really really liked it.

I got my copy today. AWESOME book. I totally loved every panel of it. It would have been my POTW if it was available as a choice. As it is, it is going to be VERY hard to top this one next week when it is officially released. They hit a home run with this issue, for sure.
