With news coming from Chicago Comic-Con comes great news! Saddled with disappointing news (maybe) about a fan favorite on the site.
http://www.newsarama.com/comics/080908-CCC-Assault-Olympus.html
This newsarama articles states that Incredible Hercules will have a major crossover with the rest of the Marvel U coming soon. It'll start on a one-shot and then just continue in the main series. Then looking at the rest of the article something interesting pops up.
Apparently there will be an Agents of Atlas back up feature for IH once this crossover happens. Sort of what DC is doing in their books lately, it will be a 'co-feature' to the main Hercules title. So what does that mean all of you AOA fans? That the current main series will be cancelled and be brought back as a co-feature? Or will there technically be two AOA titles?
I am not seeing the latter question coming to life. Sorry to all of Agents of Atlas fans.

But Jeff Parker is going to do Thunderbolts after Diggle finishes, issue 129 I think. I'm hyped for it because I did read the first few issues of Agents of Atlas, while I loved the fun writing, I dropped it because I didn't really like the overtly-goofy characters. So I think Parker with the Thunderbolts could really really work, I hope it'll be like Remender's Punisher, which I love!
AoA isn't cancelled, they're just trying to build exposure for AoA for volume 3
From Twitter: @TaishonoReno No, we're just going to try to up the Agents' profile before going into a Volume 3...

Whew! That scared me for a second.
I was going to say first Captain Britain & MI:13, now Agents of Atlas?? Why do all the good ones have to die?
His Exiles book is cancelled though

Oh well that's a relief. I mean I don't read the series, but I'm waiting for the first trade to give it a shot. Seems like a fun action comic to read.
Sorry to scare any of you guys. I just thought the article implied it was cancelled. Though it is a bit strange to have a co-feature in another book when you have the series already. I guess this is for good exposure, maybe get the Incredible Hercules readers into buying AOA. But is that really enough? I mean maybe they should put the back up feature in a comic that's already $3.99 and gets many more readers to buy.
Why not in New Avengers or ASM?

a reliable source told me that they are going to cancel the book after the current arc, do backups in Incredible Hercules for six months to try and build interest in it before they launch the new volume, all along hoping to pick up new Herc. readers as well.

That doesn't make any sense.
"Okay guys, here's what we're gonna do with Agents of Atlas. We're gonna cancel it after four more issues (I don't know how long this current arc is, just go with me here). Then we're gonna put it in Incredible Hercules as a back up feature since that title is going to have a major storyline effecting our entire universe. Finally we're going to reintroduce the title back as volume three and act liked it never happened."-Executive
"Excuse me.....isn't that a bit redundant? I mean we're already at nine issues with Atlas and apparently it has stronger sales figures then we expected. Why do we have to cancel it and then quickly re introduce it? Maybe we could actually tell a story and not let the readers suffer through us taking away what they like. We don't need to do all this work just to get a comic at $3.99. The fans aren't stupid....."-Intern
(The interns head just suddenly expolodes and the executive is reloading his shotgun)
"ANY OTHER QUESTIONS!? No!? Then go out and cancel that peice of **** and reintroduce it to the public for a higher price!!!!"-Executive.
I'm sure that's how it went down...

thenextchampion - I assume that they will reintroduce it with a $3.99 price tag as well. Sounds like I'm gonna be forced to buy a book just to get a backup feature of a story I care about. I have heard only good things about Incredible Hercules but I'm just not interested in it. AoA has been consistent from the start and really surprised me but it is certainly not at the top of my budget each month. Do I care enough about AoA to buy Incredible Herc. and will I care enough after a 6 month break to start picking up AoA again? I don't know. Who knows what series will begin, or what books I'll be picking up 6 months from now. Sounds like a dumb move on Marvel's part to me. But I guess it all goes back to "exposure" and building books to the now STANDARD $3.99 Marvel price point.

I think it depends on how you define 'canceled'? This seems to be similar to the 'Iron Fist' situation. If there are plans to launch a new volume after the special/backup series, I wouldn't call it canceled, though it's still a bummer not to have a couple of my favorite series coming out monthly. (Though it's worth noting that AoA was on a more-than-once-a-month schedule, so if you add it up we may not actually be getting fewer issues). And I am not totally sure that I'd buy Hercules just for the Atlas backups. I don't mind Hercules, I'm been slowly reading it in trade, but it's not something I'm dying to read every month.
I do think it's weird when I heard they're canceling/suspending books like this and Captain Britain, while they're launching a SWORD ongoing (for example) that I can't imagine has any more demand behind it. I guess it's a throw-stuff-at-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks strategy, but the cumulative effect might end up being 'I won't bother with these niche series b/c they're not going to last.' Not sure how I feel about it overall -- i guess it's good that they're trying?

I think there was a bit of hype for a SWORD ongoing around when Joss Whedon was wrapping his run on Astonishing X-Men, and people couldn't get enough of his stories. So, like everything Astonishing X-Men related, they're a bit late with this.

Maybe if they play up the Astonishing tie-in and the Spider-Woman tie-in it's got a shot? Don't get me wrong, I think the book's a cool idea and I'd love to see Kieron Gillen have a hit at Marvel. Just trying to read the marketing people's minds is headache-inducing, as always.

Whoa Whoa Whoa.... Agents of Atlas was a book? Really?
(all this was a joke. seriousness should be restricted when dealing with this comment)
