How about Apps for people who don't like Apps (feature Apps that even the most anti-app people would enjoy... don't know what, that's up to you).

You could do a comparison of live streaming apps. Several out there, put them side by side and let us know which is best when it comes to quality, lag etc: Qik, Bambuser, Flixwagon, Kyte, Ustream...

Agree, since the world is Global, and sure iPhone and Android is cool and all hyped up and all, but Symbian is way more common. There are a lot of free apps that have existed for years for Symbian that iPhone apps are finally catching up to, are you planning to cover Apps for instance nokia phones, that in my opinion kicks iPhones ass, specially if you are not into touchscreens like me. (a touchscreen would never cope with my handeling of a phone. an iPhone would not survive a week. ....and no I dont feel you should have to buy new stuff to your new phone just to make it hold up (like a case))
so if your not planing to review symbian phones...here is an show idea...
include symbian phones.. not everyone want an iPhone just because all the "cool kids" have one. Some of us what to be able to do more stuff then update twitter :o)

count me in i like the idea. I would actually watch the winmo and the android reviews the same way that i am viewing the android review(s) now. I own a blackberry... so thats a no brainer. As for apple... open up your hardware, software, operating system, development process, be nicer to your employees, distribute the income better and reduce the prices on your hardware and THEN, maybe next year. in other words, stop being such a bitch to society (in the nicest tone possible, with a smile at the end).

There is a reason for the boom in iPhone apps.

I have to say there are a few things that I do on the iPhone that aren't technically apps. While technically not apps maybe you guys should give some time to "mobile web apps" on the show. I'm sure a lot of these are cross platform too.
For example I live in SoCal and I've found www.sigalert.com to be a better traffic service than the one in Google Maps. They have an iPhone web interface that takes advantage of the GPS api. (I'll also throw this in the show ideas section)

Taskiller.
This is a must-have app. I kept running into sloooooowing issues, and my Maps kept reverting from traffic to map viewing, and nothing I did - using Memory for Lemmings - seemed to solve the problem.
Then I discovered Taskiller, and now I know why. Many apps will automatically stick in the background long after you've closed it, and some are automatically booted up by different settings.
If you have a G1, you definitely want this app.

My suggestion for the show is to drop the reviews of free apps. I don't know about other phones but with the iphone I can cruise the top 50 apps and download them instantly and draw my own conclusion about the app. I like to hear about apps that cost money and don't have a way to try them out.

this app is great for the person that likes to keep on top of whats going on in his or her community. the app streams over 2000 police, fire and public safety radios right into your android phone (also aval for iphone but called "emergency radio") you can listen to the FDNY of NYPD but thats not the best part. are you a space junkie? then pull up the kenedy space center feed and listen to shuttle lanches or listen to them communicate with the international space station. this is a very cool app and bears a review on app judgement

Being a total nerd, I absolutely LOVE Openwatch for Android. It's a free app that connects Android phones with the Sony Ericsson bluetooth watches (previously only able to communicate with Sony Ericsson phones). When I get a call, my watch vibrates and shows who is calling. When I get a text, my watch vibrates and displays who sent the text and scrolls the text (it's amazing). It also allows me to control the phone's music player (fwd/back/pause/vol) from my watch. I have a lot of bluetooth devices and this one is my favorite. I think the programmer deserves some recognition.
Another favorite is the Tivo Remote app for Android. I have a 2-year-old, so my living room is a disaster. I no longer have to hunt for the remote. The app uses the wifi network to control Tivo. Its a must have app for anyone with Tivo, wifi, and Android.
And finally, a show request...
I feel the need to be constantly entertained. Are there any good Android apps that allow streaming of full TV shows?

Exactly! In fact, when you consider that there are more iPhone apps added to the App Store in TWO WEEKS than Android has in its entirety, you should consider yourselves lucky to have even one in every 20 shows devoted to android apps ;)
Cruel, but true. They could review 100 iphone apps an episode everyday and die of old age before they got to the "G" apps, alphabetically.

Now that you have a "News/Previews" slot/segment, might want to remind jailbroken iPhone owners not to upgrade to Firmware 3.1.3 [unless, see show notes]. Just a suggestion.
I'd love to have a show comparing apps for learning vocabularies / flashcards. There is an incredible amount of such apps in the App store and honestly, i have bought one and i am pretty unhappy. But who wants to to buy and test all of them? Here are a few to consider:
iVocabulary
iMemento
Flashcards Deluxe
Mental Case Flashcards
iMCards
iLearning
Flashcards
gFlashPro
iFlipr
Flash My Brain
StudyCards
Things to consider would be:
- The learning system / repetition system / Leitner system
- Synchronization with Mac and Windows
- Number of import formats
- Fonts use the screen space properly: this is especially important when learning languages with own scripture like chinese or japenese. The differences in each letter can be very subtle and when learning a new alphabet, it is useful if the font size is huge and uses the space available.
- Different modes for learning and testing
- Statistics
- Vocabulary sharing with other users
- etc.
You can easily make two shows out of that :-)

Hey guys,
I have seen the jogging apps, and various other apps, but I need an app that does this:
Tracks my weight/sets while at the gym
Syncs with a webpage so I can update my routines and export data
Preferably syncs with fitday.com. They rock.

I just came across this application for Android (only, I think) called "A world of photo".
Every once in a while the program prompts you to take a picture, and you send it to a random person that is also running the program. After you send your picture, you connect out to another random person. They take a picture and send it to you.
It's like chat roulette, but with pictures, and no dicks!
I've been playing with it for 2 days now. I've sent 100 and received 98 pictures. You get a lot of computer screens and TVs, but sometimes there will be some fun pictures. I got at least 5 people when they were driving, a couple pets, even a written note to say hello.
You can rate the pictures from 1 to 5 stars, and leave a comment, which can be responded to.

I really wish this part of the rev3 forum was more active. This is probably one of the most important shows on rev3. I don't know anyone else who is reviewing apps on a regular bases and apps are a huge part of our tech lives.
Maybe (just a thought here) the app judgment show should be a segment on tekzilla for a while. Just to grab a chunk of that audience and bring them over. Yeah cross promotions are in effect at rev3 but most of the time I just kind of blow them off like yeah yeah more shows what ever. If you gave people a glimpse of what else is on here by incorporating it as a segment into popular shows than people might say hey this is a show I need to watch.
of course this will only work with congruent shows like having iFanboy guest star on TRS or vise versa, app judgment guest star on tekzilla, Digg reel guest stars on diggnation.
again just a thought.

I would like to see reviews of more Android browsers, specifically Dolphin and the new version of Opera Mini.

I am looking very a good RSS reader similar to Viigo. Since there is no chance that Viigo will come to android now that RIM has purchased them.
I have tried quite a few of the free ones and have been disappointed by all of them.

I'd love to see a round-up of to-do list apps for the iPhone. I'm currently using Toodledo along with the free version of their sync, but have been looking at other options like Omnifocus and Things, along with the benefits of the paid Toodledo service.

I would like to see an episode of App Judgment that compares eReader apps for Android such as Kindle, Nook, and Aldiko.

Love your show! I am an Android user and found a great App called "Spark" from Akop Karapetyan. It is an XBox Live account control panel ... I use it to check if my friends are online yet, so I don't have to fire up the console and play all by myself :( It also gives you the ability to send and read messages, compare achievements with your friends, and review your game history. I was curious if you know of any other XBox Live or other console platform phone Apps (I'm not an Android snob all phones welcome). Keep up the great work. Thank you!

Hey y'all, great job on Appjudgment! I'm hoping you can review Push to talk apps (ie. Walkie talkie apps). The ideal PTT app would work across phones and with both out in the middle of no where where no cell towers are near. This means that the phones would have to talk wifi in some kind of peer to peer fasion and at present frequencies, would probably be limited to line of sight. Be cool if they could deal with hills tho!

I just got Waze for my Iphone, and I think it is a great Idea for traveling anywhere you live. From short term travel, to long distances, Waze is designed to give you live updates based on the speed that you are driving, and the routes that you take.
It quickly learns which roads are usable, and which arent. If you are stuck in traffic, it automatically updates that road for other drivers to avoid that same route! Great idea and I would deffinetly check it out. Besides, ITS FREE!

Hey AJ,
I'm hoping you guys could review emulator apps like SNESoid and GameBoid by yongzh, as they've been a huge hit with android users and retro gamers.
There's also an app called DroidEmu that I'd like to see a review on. Apparently, it's an emulator for the NES, SNES, Genesis, GameGear, GB/C and GBA games!
And I'd totally would like a psx4droid review. I'd like to see how well it runs og playstation games and see if it can handle more fast-paced stuff like racing games or shooters.

1) You have to try:
Dark Nebula - Ball roller with excellent graphics - highly addictive
2) Can you compare Pro Baseball and MLB At Bat.
Pro Baseball is free and has live play-by-play and a cool chat feature
3) Could you do a review of youth baseball scoring apps
ESPN iScore looks really cool but it is $10 and can you really use it on an iPhone
Are there other options that are cheaper and can any work without an iPad
4) Could you to a review of the star-watching / constellation finding apps
I am not a star watcher and don't know any of the constellations
I would love to be able to point them out to my boys especially when camping.
This came up especially with the Perseid Meteor shower. Where is Perseus?
I tried 'Stars' (free) but was hopelessly lost

What is the best Android tether app? I have the HTC Eris for Verizon if that makes a difference. Currently I'm using EasyTether.

Now that Greenpoins0n and Limera1n are both available for jailbreaking 4.1 ... how about a rundown on how to best jailbreak ... including how to best back up and restore jailbroken apps from previous jailbreaks, etc. That would be awesome!
Thanks!! Love the shows!!

Maybe have a show dedicated to the more-than-just-a-few-minutes-of-playing games, like GalaxyOnFire or SecretOfMonkeyIsland. I find them difficult to get into because they require so much effort and time that I can't do it on the train or waiting for the bus.

You guys should do a show on call and voice recorders. I'm writing a book via dictation and transcription and I wanted an app that would help me. My problem is that I have a Motorola DROID X and most don't work on my phone. I found a good voice recorder called pcm recorder life, but haven't been able to even come close to finding a call recorder that works.

Would be good to see a show about party games, where you use single iPhone/iPad, and a bunch of people plays together. Some app names: Spin My Party, Phrase Party, Would You Choose, inReverse Party Game.
Considering winder holidays are pretty much a house/family party time, that would be helpful to see what is the most fun.

Somebody's gotta review this (http://lifehacker.com/5723557). It sounds awesome enough to be an Android app. :V

Regarding the iphone i have tried alot of apps that allow you to watch videos without
the hassle of re- encoding video to that dumb specific mp4 format.
AJ cru i must reccomend AVPlayer....its plays all media files flawlessly.
In saying that there are other apps like buzzplayer and Oplayer and even
the recently removed VLC for iphone
a media app roundup would be nice
