this thread wont be as fun as you think my brother recently asked me if he should get a new video card (for his dell) when i asked why he said he wants to monitors (like me). so my question is what video card will work with a Inspiron 530 well? the only requirement is that it needs to outputs for monitors.

idk what kind of quality he wants seeing as he is fine with integrated. so the price should be minimal.

also how can i be sure it will work with a dell?

EDIT:
i herad that the ATI Radeon 2400 works with dells now just show me a specific one that would be great

EDIT 2:
im thinking this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102812
any objections?

If all he cares about is two monitors (and I gotta admit, once you go to multiple monitors you'll feel like your legs have been cut off if you're forced back to only one) and isn't worried about big performance, then the card you suggest should be fine.

I'm surprised no one is putting two monitor outputs on cheap integrated video yet.

Where I used to work I had to get up three to four monitors on each system for the people in student admissions and registrars office. Almost always one monitor (lcd) was dedicated to only solitaire which suddenly became hidden when management was around. You do get hooked on multiple monitors.

And the problem with that is...? :)

actually, most motherboards with integrated graphics do come with dual monitor support but we're talking dell here. if they can save the extra few dollars to not do something like that and charge you for an addon later they will.

granted most of the dual monitor outputs i've seen are DVI and VGA but it's still there. Sometimes you'll seen DVI+HDMI + VGA but the DVI and HDMI ports are essentially one output. (you can use one or the other)
