Hi all.
I have a Sony Grand WEGA kf-42we620, and I want to get it to work with my semi-HTPC, which is an HP pavilion m7360y. In the manual for the tv, it says that it will not work with computers, even though it has a DVI Input. It works a little bit on a low resolution (I have it on 1280x800) and that's the highest it can go. In my mind, the resolution should be 1920x1080 (it is a 1080p TV right?) supposedly, the native resolution is 1386x788, but when I set the computer to that resolution, it won't even show up on the TV.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it's likely 1366x768 and no, that isn't 1080p. 1366x768 is the manufacturer's version of 720p so maybe try 1280x720 if the computer will do that.

That didn't really work, the resolution won't fit on the screen, so to speak. Here is some pictures explaining what I'm talking about:

At the moment, the highest resolution that will fit on the screen is 1152x648 (first picture).
The second picture is the computer set at 1280x720, which as you can see, won't fit on the screen (you can't see the taskbar). You now see my problem.

looks like your a victim of overscan, see if you can turn it off on the TV.

Idea #2: poke about in the advanced video settings, some drivers can compensate for overscan. The preferred method is still to turn it off on the TV but that might be an option.

I don't think it's possible to turn overscan off on the tv, but I used the ATI control panel, and there was a 1080i optimized setting. it now fits perfectly, but is still fuzzy, and there is a bit of flicker (I guess that's what it is, windows don't stand quite still). If you have any ideas on how to make it sharper and stop flickering, that would be great!
Thanks!

edit: the resolution turned out to be 1776x1000
