Hi all,
New to macs, so I'm trying to go it solo and not use a dual-boot setup. I've been able to find alternatives to most things natively for OS X that I used on Windows, but my gf hasn't had much success, and has started to say it's not useful to her, etc. Two IMPORTANT things to know:
a) I'm currently living in China, and b) my GF is Chinese :
There are 2 things that we're looking for alternatives to, and those are:
QQ Music (http://music.qq.com/portal_v2/static/player.html) and PPStream (http://www.ppstream.com/download.html)
QQ Music is a windows program, that basically lets you search for and instantly play songs. Even lets you save a playlist. Sounds very similar to Spotify, but I haven't been able to use Spotify AND it's free (I don't know it's legality, it is China after all...)
PPStream is similar to QQ Music, but with video. It has lots of shows that you can search for and instantly start watching - again I don't know the legality of this program.
I've tried to use WINE with both of these programs, but they don't seem to work. Secondly, as I mentioned before, I'm trying to avoid having to use VMWare/Parrelles/Boot Camp as I want the pure OS X experience. I'm also living in China, and not able to buy a copy of Windows in English here (a legal copy anyways).
Pandora doesn't work, since I'm not in the US - Last.FM doesn't work either. Youtube is blocked, TVU Player is also blocked in China. I've also searched the "Alternative To" website to no avail.
Thanks,
vpr
