You know what I truly hate?
I hate when you show somebody a trick and they go out of their way to ruin it and prove that there's a 'trick' involved.
I mean, come on ... of COURSE there's a trick involved. Magic isn't a real thing (well, not a 'proven' real thing, at least) so why insist on spoiling the fun/mysticism of how it actually works?
If you ask me really nicely, I'm alway happy to show how the trick is done. I don't see the point in keeping it a closely-guarded secret. Anybody with access to Google and 30 seconds to spare will be able to find the answer to most tricks so I use it to impress and then if they really want, I'll explain it to them and show them how to pull it off. I always keep learning new ones anyway so it's not like I'm going to run out of things to show you.
But grabbing the cards out of my hand or insisting on checking my pockets, etc kinda destroys what magic tricks are about.
That's why of late I've started doing tricks that don't require any slight of hand. Tricks that do themselves may be easier to pull off and figure out but they don't have the problem of being discovered if somebody tries to jump the gun.
Now that my rant is over, HOW many of you guys came into this thread on a mission to blow me out of the water for attacking magic tricks? My heading was a little two-sided. :P
