I was going to make the same comment. But, to be fair, as superior as SocialScope is, it has zero buzz. Nevertheless, after using all three of the apps that Roger reviewed and SocialScope, it is that best.

BTW, I've had no battery issues twittering with my BB Pearl 8130. But, using the gps kills the thing.

Social Scope user here. It would have been nice to see it in the show, but then again it took me months to even get my invite, so I'm sure that would present a problem for you guys.

I came out of the show thinking two things. 'Roger's a little teapot short and stout, here is his handle...'

But also 'are all Blackberry apps as ugly as these?'. They all look really unpolished with horrible navigation.

Liking the variety in handsets :)

Yes, for the most part BB apps are ugly ... but are extremely funcitonal.
Why?

They are intended so that if it came down to it you could use the application with one hand.

Ugly as the trackball is, it is functional - and an improvement over the old scroll wheel, and in combination with a dedicated keyboard it means that users can use a BB app fast. There is a reason that they are king of the boardroom - they are geared to a messaging (email) centric population of working professionals.

Key to most apps on the device is the menu. It is accessed with a single key, allows you to scroll quickly to select the action, and execute with a push of the ball (ball acts like a moue button). In a well written app, the context of the menu changes based on where you are in the app.

This focus on keyboard/thumbball is one reason why the current crop of apps for the Storm are clunky - they are not written for a dedicated touchscreen interface.

... and (nyah nyah iPhone users) I was online yesterday while Comcast had general outages in my area using my unlimited data plan on Sprint with my BB giving me Broadband (thats a stretch but it is DSL like speed) connectivity. That is with a device out of the box, not jailbroken or otherwise hacked.

Thank you for the BB review. I was one of the bitchy.

(BTW, I'll go check Social Scopenow. Currently have Twitterberry and it does suck)
