View Full Version : Outro: Please consider a change

To the Tekzilla producers:

Please consider changing the outro / credit theme for the show. Perhaps it is just me, but after using the Tekzilla theme as a talk bed for the wrap-up, it is really jarring when that guitar riff kicks in at full blast at the top of the credit roll.

You did some episodes where you simply faded the theme up as the credits began to roll. That made for a really nice bookend for the show, and gave the audience (me, but I'm assuming that others might feel the same) a nice frame for the content segment of the show. It's a nice cue that the show is over, but it doesn't rip us bodily from it.

The current credit song, because of its abruptness and feel of "finality," pulls focus right out of the show. Plus, it just sounds like "Generic Production Music Track #12" that you can find on pretty much any production music library. The opening theme just, to me, feels better.

I've kept my mouth shut on this for a while, to see if the credit song would grow on me.... it hasn't.

Forum gang, back me up! Anybody else agree?

I dunno.
I kinda dig the retro 80's end credits flare.
It's the soft rock you hear after learning a lesson.

I feel the end credit music is appropriate and just.

I dug it at first, it felt like a joke, but now I'm totally indifferent to it. If it changed, I wouldn't complain.

Don't use the word "outro"! Don't upset Roger Chang. Use "closing theme" instead.
Hey, I'm that way too, Roger.

You did some episodes where you simply faded the theme up as the credits began to roll. The current credit song, because of its abruptness and feel of "finality," pulls focus right out of the show.

The music does have a touch of melancholy, though. That and the fact that one realizes that one has to wait for the next episode of Tekzilla.

What is so particularly "retro '80s" about the "end credits flare"?

The theme sounds like Muzak with a more prominent electric guitar melody.

Tekzilla "closing theme" also in Pet Supermarket TV ad:

The beginning of this ad features black and white video, then a switch to color video and music.

Tekzilla's ending is a switch from color to black and white video and music.

I agree with the OP and I said this when they first started using the current outro (yes outro) music. They originally used the opening theme for the credits but then changed to the current music. It doesn't really bother me anymore since I'm used to it, but I think I'd probably enjoy a change back to the opening theme. Maybe a different version of the opening theme for the credits, like a slower tempo remix or something. I've seen some TV shows that do this.

Rev3 has tech content again? When did this happen? ;)

I preferred the actual show theme like they used to, but I don't really mind this one - although it does seem a tad 'cheaper' though when they had a bespoke theme made to replace it with cheesy library musac.

How epic would it be if that was your ringtone. I would use the Digg opening for my ringtone but no one would get it. I'd buy a person lunch if I heard their ringtone is the opening to a rev3 show.

There was a Tekzilla thread from March 2009 that mentions this.

The music was probably taken from a music library that is like the old Soper Sound collection. These collections were the music source for many local TV news shows, instructional videos, TV and radio ads, etc.

As for the drinks via email, "Is there an app for that?".

Hey, sounds like a great idea.
