Apparently Guy Ritchie has signed on to direct Lobo. This blew my mind. I like his movies. Going in a very different direction with choice of director. Guy Ritchie has a very kinectic style that could work with the Lobo style. Very Interesting. Variety (http://weblogs.variety.com/bfdealmemo/2009/09/ritchie-locked-for-lobo.html).

My first thought was, "They can get a great talent to do a movie about a one-note character like Lobo, and yet we still can't get a Flash or a Wonder Woman movie out of development hell?"

But in the end I guess it could be fun--espicially if they don't try to be serious with it at all. I'm picturing a Shoot 'Em Up in space. :D

They gave it to the right director in that case.

Guy Ritchie does ganster movies and that's about it. (Everything else he has done stank) I'm still hoping he hasn't cocked up Sherlock Holmes.

The one thing that does worry me about it is the statement that they want it to be PG-13.........Now it's been a while since I read a Lobo comic (early/mid 90's probably) but I remember him being more insane and over the top violent.

Rob Zombie would be a better to direct Lobo. but the real question is why are they making Lobo FIRST and not Flash, Green Lantern or a Wonder Woman films?

Well they are making the green lantern movie. Filming to start in september. But will most likely get delayed because our awesome australian dollar jumped 20 cents.

I don't think one has anything to do with the other. The number of people who actually read comic books is a VERY small amount of people. When these movies are made, we are hardly considered. 99% of the people who go see a Lobo movie will have never heard of Lobo. They will see a trailer for the movie or something like that and think that it looks like a cool premise.

The studios aren't making a Lobo movie INSTEAD of a Flash, Wonder Woman, etc movie. They are just making a Lobo movie. One has no bearing on the other.

Forget Lobo. When's the Slo-Bo movie coming?

Is Lobo still even an active character?

Believe it when I see it. I bet this will stay in pre production for a long while.

I don't even remotely care about this movie, so it will be out by Summer 2011 at the latest. The Flash movie on the other hand.......
