Hey guys, Brian's mentioned Derren before, and he's done a new stunt. He appears to have predicted the lottery numbers live on TV, at the same time as the lottery numbers were drawn live on another TV channel. I didn't do it, but apparently, we could have switched back and forth between the two channels and seen the same thing on both channels to prove they were both completely live. I'm sure someone would have done it, so there can't be any trickery there.

The only thing I can think of is that he used some sort of technology to make it work, like a camera trick or something. But the only problem I have with this theory is that I've never seen Derren use any kind of technological tricks in his shows. His shows normally state that they do not use camera tricks of any kind. My dad thought that they could have burnt the numbers onto the balls with a laser. This just doesn't seem like his style to me, but I can't think of any other way around it.

I guess another way it could have been done is to have the left side of the screen frozen at some point, have someone add the correct balls, and then have the camera un-freeze the left portion of the screen, making it look like nothing's happened.

Anyone got any clues as to how it's done? It's going to bug me until he gives it away on Friday.

Woah that's cool.
No idea how he did that. Would be nice if you could post the friday video later on too.

Assuming none of this video has been tampered with...

I can't see how he does it. He even interacts with the balls and rotates them.. When one ball rotates, the others rotate realistically. So it seems like the numbers are really on there.

He certainly makes it seem dramatic... I don't see why there's a second camera unless that second camera is actually used in the "reveal" on Friday.... i am really curious with this

this has been bugging me all nite, after i watched this on tv last nite i watched his show that was on afterwards so that took my mind off it for a bit, but after i that finished i started thinking of how he could have done this and i had practicly no sleep just trying to figure this out. as he usualy dosnt use camera tricks or any other kind of tech stuff i actualy have no idea how this would work. i just cant wait till friday now i i bet its gonna be something so simpe that i kick myself lol.

I think it's pre-recorded. I'm not convinced it's live on another channel.

I can tell you it was live.

Like I said, I didn't switch over between the two channels myself, but both shows did happen together. On BBC 1 at 22:35, the national lottery started, and at the same time on channel 4 and E4, the Derren Brown show started. Even though I didn't switch over, someone in the UK will have done. So if both shows weren't live, then it would be all over the internet and there would be no mystery about it at all.

The actual lottery results are available for all to see on the internet as well on the official site in case you think those weren't the real numbers:

My initial suspition was that there would be some kind of delay from the lottery numbers being drawn and aired. (You can't buy a lottery ticket in the UK for a few hours before the draw)

The fact he could not reveal his prediction until after the draw was also a bit fishy.

If this is how Derren did it, it will make me sad. Derren doesn't seem like a guy to use camera tricks. Brian, any thoughts?

Well, he 'revealed' how he did it last night on channel 4, but it was a massive let down. I've changed my mind now, and I think he actually used camera trickery. If you're interested, the hour long show can be seen on this youtube playlist (in reverse order):

I've seen it, yet I know it cannot be a viable solution. I don't know if he will ever come out and say it was a camera trick.

This is a series of 4 events. The next one is apparently going to literally make us be glued to out seats. I'm just hoping that they'll all tie together somehow, which should explain why this one had to be so disappointing.

I suppose we'll see...

I'm not gonna lie, I am stoked to see this whole series. He is very good at what he does...

Since it's almost 3 AM here and I love stating the obvious, it's clear that if he knew the numbers before-hand, he would have bought a ticket.

The numbers are different at the end they were when they were called. I watched the video several times. His prediction is not what was originally called. Only what was on the screen at the end. Go watch it on youtube and you'll see the diifference.

Although I'm sure he didn't know them before hand. He said Channel4 wouldn't let him.

Lottery organisers Camelot banned him from purchasing a ticket.

His wisdom of crowds explaination really doesn't stack up. Paul Daniels said there was 99 ways it could be done !

it was probably just a split screen but fair play to him for making an hour long show which had nothing to do with how the trick was done. just read a forum with alot of pissed of people giving out about him, but like what did they expect, derren to give away his real secret? there's no way to actually predict the lotto. it was still entertaining to watch, and the coin toss trick is cool, could be a scam school episode. its called penny's game.

thats because the balls come out in a random order and then they put them into asending order. and it dosent actualy matter what order the numbers where in as long as they are the same.
