Was anyone else really disappointed at the announcements made by apple this September? I mean, I think the new Nano is awesome. I love the new iPod touch, although I don't know why it lacks the same features as the Nano. And Snow Leopard looks great. But I was really expecting more. I really thought there would be an e-book reader or a tablet, or something new.
Was I expecting too much? Did I just buy into the hype or were others also expecting more?

Yeah, I think you were expecting a little much. I didn't think we would see an e-book reader/tablet/netbook/toaster (heh) so early.
The only thing that surprised me was the lack of camera on the iPod Touch. I'm guessing they decided to do that to make the iPod Nano a more attractive product. Otherwise, why bother getting a Nano when the Touch does so much more? I still wish it had a camera though. ;)
I played around with the new Nanos though. The camera is a lot better than what I thought it would.

The code is in lace in the iPhone SDK for larger screen devices, so I'd suspect that the tablet is imminent ... but now is not the time (economy) to announce a new device.
I'd look to the "gee wiz" gadget to come at year end in the slot previously reserved for Macworld keynotes. The iPod nano /w video camera was a release just to spur interest for the upcoming holiday season so it becomes the "must have" gadget for Xmas.

I agree about the economy. We have a zero budget for new toys in anticipation of what will be out at the end of the year. . Sometimes when a company starts to play possum. they know a competitor is coming with possibly something better and want to retool to make the unit better to fend off the competition. I have seen eeepc's already discounted to a high end 229 dollars. Going to be an interesting fall.

Cellphone manufacturer? Can't see it happening in the US market any time soon.
Laptops? This is mid sales cycle, so thats not going to happen yet.
Tablet? eBook reader? Nope. This announcement was all about iTunes and music.
AppleTV? Yeah, plenty better out there. Not going to fend off competition, but rumours of soething to respark competition keep floating around ...
Nope. Can't do it.
What are you thinking?

I've worked at the store for over a year now. It's the busiest store in our region, and a step below the flag ship stores (such as the "cube" in NYC).
I sold a grand total of 2 Apple TV's since then.
