Works on my iTunes (via RSS anyway).

American builders fail the three little pigs test. Why, oh why, do they make houses out of wood and plaster board (dry wall)? This is particularly crazy when considering the number of hurricanes etc the country gets.

Everything here is breeze block and brick. There's no messing about finding studs. A drill, a spirit level, a pencil, 4 raw plugs, a screw driver, 8 screws, some washers and about 10 minutes was all it took to wall mount my TV a few weeks back.

We have some of the original film from movies underneath our town (Hutchinson, KS) in the salt mines because of the constant temperature and humidity.

1) Wood is an incredible building material and built properly a wood frame home can be just as durable and long lasting as any a house built from any other material.

2) In states like California that are subject to earthquakes building any home out of brick without suitable reinforcement will result in serious injury during a large tremor. Wood might fail the the 3 little pigs test but boy can it work well during a shake, rattle and rumble here in SF.

I have to disagree about the superhero movies.

As Yahtzee says "Batman is always the least interesting character in everything he's in". The Dark Knight is a good movie, because Heath Ledger plays a brilliantly disturbing joker pulling brilliantly disturbing crimes. It didn't have enough Joker, it had too much Batman (with that terrible growl).

Watchmen may be an excellent graphic novel, but it's an impressive but seriously flawed movie. Spends too much time faithfully recreating graphic scenes without trying to transform them into compelling movie scenes.

Iron Man was excellent because it was an opposite to The Dark Knight, it excels on the charisma of Tony Stark, what a great performance by Robert Downey Jr. Sin City is an example of how to do what Watchmen tries to do, and I'd like to think that this is because Robert Rodriguez is one of the best directors. Roger was completely spot on about Spiderman being a morality play, making it more than just competent comic book movies, making it really engaging.

Add shims - wood perhaps - between and up and over the wall and HDTV mounting bracket, elevating it over the bookshelf rails. Even if you miss a couple, it should be sufficient. If in doubt, perhaps you could drill some more screw mount points into the bracket for some 'alternate' mount points.

Some films may not have been "re-telecined" to create a DVD; instead the DVD was made from what stored the original telecine transfer - 1" B or 1" C format videotape, Betecam or even laserdisc. This is probably true for films that had a limited theatrical release or were released direct-to-video - no negatives or prints to go back to.

The DVD creation process was still new. The first DVD, Blade Runner, is not considered to be a good transfer because of this.

I don't think there was a problem in the 1980s with the quality of the film stock, generally Eastman 35mm color negative film. Graininess is a quality of "fast" film speeds that expose quickly and are used in low-light situations, for example. The problems might have been in storage and transfer and mastering.

It was nice to see a recommend of the PS3 for the Recession Selection. Everyone I know who gets one ends up having it take over their living room. It is the best Blu-ray player for a few reasons including the strength of the Cell processor, built in Wifi, Gigabyte ethernet. I enjoy being able to copy HD video files over my Gigabyte network very quickly to the PS3's hard drive. Being able to set them up only as Blu-ray players and have them auto update over the Wifi is also a plus.

So where can I get a PS3 at street price? Any suggestions?

Yeah... I guess Roger isn't familiar with console pricing. Unlike pretty much all other consumer electronics, the MSRP is the street price in the console world.

I guess that would actually make it MMRP "Manufacturer's Mandated Retail Price"...
