I thought the episodes on zip ties and handcuffs were pretty good. But to get out of the zip tie you have to have your hands a certain way, what if the cop makes sure your hands are the right way, how do you get out?
And how would you get out of handcuffs if you a pick or any device to help?

Answer 1: Tell the cop you have magnetised pins in each forearm due to a motorcycle accident, and that it causes you great pain to place your wrists together in this way. Politely and calmly offer him your wrists in the way YOU want the zip-tie closed. With any luck, if you come across as sensible and non-threatening, he may just be temped to do it your way, to prevent you from sueing later...
Answer 2: My first thought was 'You can't'. But then, that's not a very scamtastic way of looking at things, now is it...
What might you have on you that you can maybe improvise with?
The center pin on a belt buckle, perhaps, used as a shim. The flattened-out end of a shoelace (the bit covered in plastic) also as a shim. The plastic seal off a bottle of Coke or similar, if given the chance... A hairpin, for the girls out there (either to use as a lock pick, or as a shim). A matchstick?
Some or none of these may work, but having seen the inside mechanism on Scam School, it makes you wonder just what you COULD use, in a sticky situation...
