The company I work for is launching a video podcast about gaming sometime in the next few months. I'm pushing hard to host it, and to keep our CFO away from any and all gaming devices (he's been watched accidentally smashing a Wiimote (http://youtube.com/watch?v=RkdihGX7iWM) over a million times on YouTube).

i currently host a video game review vidcast called Dropkick Gamers (http://www.dropkickgamers.com) we review all the latest games and provide news about the game industry. We do the show completely free and don't want to get paid to do it. We update every 2 weeks and would gladly offer our show to be used.

We're still kicking video game news and reviews with an indie slant over here at Fantasy Become Alive. Might not be terribly traditional fair, but that's kind of the point.

You ****ing bastard. Never EVER EVER say that. Plus it won't EVER happen. Kevin would never sell out, especially to G4.

G4 is the reason Rev3 exists. Because it ruined the great station known as TechTV. I honestly want to see G4 die out. And hopefully get replaced by at least a decent station.

On a side note, not even just a video game review show. But maybe also add in video game news. Not exactly like diggnation, but I visit kotaku.com and they seem to have a good amount of new gaming stories on there every day. Would be nice to see Rev3 break into that market as well.

I totally agree with you, thats why i started my show, i hated techtv after G4 took over. Anything that wasn't game related got the axe except the Screen Savers but that even eventually got killed and resurected as Entertainment Tonight with web links or Attack of the Show as they call it. I do my show from the heart and pay out of my own pocket to do it just because i love video games. G4 won't be around much longer the only content they have is AOTS and X-Play everything else is reruns of shows from other networks like COPS, Fastlane, and Star Trek. They are trying to turn it into a "guy" network like SpikeTV and it isn't going to work.

Rev3 Should try and steal the sess from G4. If you have a video gaming show it's got to be hosted by sessler.

Yeah look, a gaming show is only gonna be cool to so many people...which is why its awesome to have gaming stuff on TRS, that way theres OTHER things on there too, and those guys do a good job. So why bother with a totally game oriennted show?

I agree, but if you consolidate video games into another show that covers movies and other things someone is gonna be upset. I mean there is already a show dedicated to music or web culture or digital art why not a 30 to 45 minute show about just video games reviews, previews, news, or just the culture of the people playing the games. As long as its interesting and knowledgable, maybe funny as well, as long as its not just all jokes like X-Play has become i'm sure it will be popular.

One of the best, Rev3 only needs TRS to do games 1Up takes care of the rest.

That would be great. I too, hated when G4 took over....but the Sess is hilarious!

I think G4 just kinda tries to make Adam Sessler look dumb, but in-fact he's incredibly intelligent. When he used to host Extended Play he gave reviews that got straight to the point without the unnecessary humor. Yeah, humor is fine but X-Play, at times, takes it a little too far.

So?

I hate comics. Does that mean Rev3 should drop iFanboy?

NJShadow: Same goes for Morgan Webb. When I'm looking to see if they're playing Ninja Warrior re-runs(again - the ONLY good thing G4 has EVER done), and I catch X-Play for a minute, I don't get why they make them act so stupid. I guess they're just trying to relate to their audience.

That's completely different. Nowhere did i say "i hate game, thus this is a crap idea". And I'm not pleased at you're blatant misinterpretation of my words. What I was getting at however, is that there's already game coverage being done by the network on TRS, so why bother with a show devoted to covering games?

Theres a difference between "somethings already being done in some different aspect than suggested here" and "i hate things!".

First, don't tell me I misinterpreted what you said, when you clearly stated: "a gaming show is only gonna be cool to so many people." I realize you didn't use the word "hate", but that was the quickest way to get my point across. But I'll rephrase it.

A comic show is only gonna be cool to so many people.

Second, TRS covers comics(occasionally), so why is there the need for iFanboy? That's my point. Just because one show touches on something doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.

There's XLR8R TV and notmtv that both covers music. I don't think there is a reason to be concerned with having two shows that have some crossover in topics. If it's good, people will watch it. A gaming show won't take away any fans from TRS, because like you said, they have a little bit of everything. However, for someone who isn't really into movies, TV, or comics, the gaming segment on TRS might not appeal to them enough to watch the whole show. A gaming show could attract a lot more fans to Revision 3.

Revision 3 is too young to just turn their nose at ideas that will help grow the company.

Just my dos pesos.

Exactly. Sometimes in a review, the whole time they will have talking heads making fun of some famous person and I will not know what the f*ck the game is about. Morgan Webb is the same thing. Sometimes one of them will do a segment on AOTS and not have all the stupid jokes, and you can really see how much they know about gaming.

Anyway, I think the idea is great. TRS does have video games but its not...lets say..."structured". They say (some) of the news and what games they've played that week but it's not like a real game review/news show. No offence to the TRS guys, it's an awesome show...but they aren't really hardcore gamers. There should be a show with some guys that are hardcore and can really do a structured review with scores for graphics, sound, gameplay, etc.

If you want good video game podcasts that are not Rev3 content, I thouroughly recommend

Broadcast Gamer (www.broadcastgamer.com)
and
Team Fremont Live! (www.teamfremont.com)

Team Fremont is probably my favorite podcast (including Rev3 content) and I can't recommend it enough, but if you're looking for a more structured video game show check out Broadcast Gamer.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe John Davison of the 1UP Network is joining Revision 3....He quit the 1UP Network (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3162237), and with a familiar face in Revision 3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Louderback#Internet) I don't think this is a far stretch of the imagination...

John even said he isn't leaving videogames (http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=8348768&publicUserId=5345401).

I knew someone would say that. Personally I would like to see a dedicated game show. TRS doesn't have enough time to give the depth a dedicated show could, since it has so many topics.

I wouldn't mind a show dedicated completely to game news, reviews, previews, interviews etc so long as it was of high production value.

Every second home made podcast seems to be on videogames. There are also some great, "professionally" produced ones out there.

As a market, do you really want to launch a new show that has to compete with 5 other, already successful (or at least established) to varying degrees shows on the same subject?

There are only so many Zelda, CoD4, Wii, and PSP announcements that come out each week.

I too think revision 3 could use a dedicated gaming show. I do one myself and not to self pimp but I like how mine is done. We are currently on a budget of nothing but as I said in Episode 8 we are moving up in production quality, episode 8 was the first episode with lights! But Anyway if there was to be a dedicated gaming show I want it to be a laid back objective based script type episode. Not reading lines but just having concepts you have to get across with what you say, also it being Live would be awesome as well. I know from experience that live shows are not that difficult to do especially when you use Ustream or Stickam. Call ins can be done through Skype as I do them and As long as you have GAMERS doing the show your golden. You basically need someone that is vocal in their opinions, in the industry somewhat, and actual has to play games. But I do think that a good gaming show can come. We have dedicated comic show, I see no reason to not have a dedicated gaming show.

if revision 3 could snag Adam S or Morgan W, perhaps both that would be incredible for a gaming podcast, and it would be nice, i think to have some of the group back together

I believe a gaming, video gaming specific show would be great...

Alright. The opportunity is here. Get Jeff Gerstman to head up a new show. A real, hardcore Nerd-tacular. Something with the same kind of in-your-face style as Diggnation. Not a show for kiddies.

Whether you like him or not, Jeff has the cred. He is not terribly tele-genic, but he is comfortable in front of the camera and he's "Gamer," not a weatherman, so I think his look is fine.

I think it would be very cool, to have a show that is not SO beholden to game companies (Like magazines and websites tend to be). And Jeff probably has enough connections to get some really good "Round Table" discussions organized.

Jim L!!! Get this done!!!
