I highly recommend everyone checkout the new UK TV show, Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe, where the aforementioned Mr Brooker takes a look at all things related to gaming in a satirical style similar to Zero Punctation.

Here's the first 10mins of the first episode that aired last night. If you live in the UK you can catch up on the iPlayer. Everyone else can search YouTube etc...

We should be reviewing this for Monday's podcast too.

I watched it, Brooker was on top form, as usual. I liked Dara O'Brien's little section. Poor guy. :p I wonder if he got a load of twitter replies with offers to help him through Gears of War. How awesome would it be to play gears of war coop with Dara?! Charlie Brooker started out as a games journalist so he knows what he's talking about. Also interesting you bring up zero punctuation. Brooker's game reviews were very similar to yahtzee's.

Sadly though, the show was a one off. Part of BBC4's "Electric Revolution" season. It's a shame because as the show says, there absolutely nothing on TV that even mentions games or gaming. Sure we have the internet, but the BBC is a public broadcaster and should cater to what people want to see, many many millions of people play games, it's not too much to expect a show or two that covers them.

The only other program in the "Electric Revolution" season that interests me is "Micro Men"... "stars Alexander Armstrong and Martin Freeman as maverick visionary Sir Clive Sinclair and his former colleague Chris Curry, as they go head to head to achieve domination of the growing home computer market."

Yahtzee actually says his inspiration was Brooker and Brooker invited him to do a review, but there were contractual things making it impossible according to his twitter.

And yeah shame it's a one off :( He did mention on twitter that he's unsure about a series but another one off is possible and he'll be doing games now and then in screen wipe as well. Screenwipe has a christmas special and then a full series next year and Newswipe is also back next year... yay for BBC Four!

That's a shame. Zero Punctuation needed to be on that show. The Escapist are idiots because it would have been great publicity, even if the BBC can't mention them (although they might have been able to) then his appearance would have instigated a load of searches. I hope they pay Yahtzee well because if I were him I'd be looking to move on.

Love @charltonbrooker - Screenwipe is one of my favorite shows ever and much of it covers shows with which I am only slightly familiar.

Newswipe is fantastic as well - again my only complaint/wish is that they'd ship him over here (across the pond as it were)! (or at least get BBC America to play him)

I will be watching this show on my phone thanks to YouTube and no thanks to the iPlayer.
