If it's essentially 100 minutes of the intro to Dawn of War, sign me up. Also, the bald space marine concept actually isn't overplayed in film as it is in video games, so maybe it could be successful. And sci-fi is still big (Star Trek, Transformers 2, District 9) so yeah. Being an ex-collector and huge fan of the universe, I'm excited. Probably won't have the directors/producers/writers it deserves though.

I'd seriously like to know what kind of budget they have to work with. I think an all CG or even a 2D animated film could be doable.

I always favored the Blood Angels.

Do you think they'll have Tyranids in it? Or perhaps the Necrons? I was always a fan of the crazy alien races in 40K. :D

Chaos Marines of Khorne.

Good enough. Their death obsessed chaos gods will be sure to entertain my simple tastes. :P

They'll probably go crazy with the CG on this one which is unfortunate since I really prefer animatronics and solid model work.

I seriously do not get what people have against CG modeling. Yes, crap CG is crap CG; it's the same with crap makeup and animatronics. As far as technology goes, unless Neil Bloomkamp managed to hire his animation team with peanuts, District 9 proved that you can make really believable CG characters without Avatar's budget.

I mean, really, what IS wrong with CG in movies?

I've always hoped for a 40K Movie. Even tho I don't play the tabletop anymore I'm still a huge fan of the novels. Horus Heresy especially.

But personally I hold little hope for this film. All I can imagine it being is BIONICLE but with Space Marines rather than Lego. A 1hr30min CGI commercial aimed at 12 yr olds.

I hope I'm wrong but I'd rather not get my hopes up until I see whos writing it (prays its Dan Abnett and/or Graham McNeill)

District 9 was one of the few exceptions where the CG worked well. Most of the time it does not, sometimes even when you have a big budget (Wolverine).
