With receivers, TVs, DVD, Blu Ray, Apple TV, DVR all using HDMI and each saying they can process or pass through the signal, what does one do?

I plug all into my receiver through HDMI, then HDMI into TV.

Your display. The rest just are just bit buckets.

That depends on the quality of the TV, Receiver, Blu-ray.

If you're Blu-ray player is a PS3 or Oppo you want it to do the processing. If your receiver is pass-through then it's not going to do much at all. TVs are usually good to do the processing. If your TV is old or a low grade brand then you might have issues here and there and delays at times with feeds from Cable/Satellite boxes.
