I don't post much here but I felt compelled to come and say how much I love the new intros. This one was particularly great. Keep up the great work guys, the show is going from strength to strength and has hit new heights!

Agreed with the awesome intros.

Also; anyone else give Aion a try, just a try, and accidentally got addicted? Or did you all set out to do it? (at general Aion community).

I play on Telemachus (EU version of the game) if anyone else plays there (on elyos side).

Great show guys. The Nightmare segment was hilarious when you kept jumping away from the TV.

re; Aion,

I tried the beta. It felt super generic. Graphics are beautiful though. I only played until about level 6 though, as a Cleric. I'm going to try again when they offer a free trial.

Ignore the hype, Trick 'r Treat is a VERY bland movie. A film with no laughs and no scares based around Halloween = total FAIL!

Great episode though guys. I guess you just had to suck up to the director.

p.s. For non-US fans, Nightmare = Atmosfear

Boy, Wes, you really have it out for Trick r Treat.

I honestly really enjoyed it. Even if we had never met the director I'd still have liked it. Very, very fun movie that did make me laugh out loud several times. It is not supposed to be "scary", it is supposed to be fun, while dealing in the "scary" milieu - like Tales from the Crypt. And I think it succeeds.

But, you know, we each have our own opinions.

Great episode! I love that Dan loves The Sandlot!! My sister and I saw it and LOVE it.. we quote it all the time... esp the FOR EVER line :)

Now I want to watch that, but I don't have it on dvd, and have no vcr! so I guess playing nightmare is out too!

I do, we do and that's why I love watching the show. So disappointed at least one of you didn't have the hater pants on though. I'll give you them back once I've convinced the world not to see Trick 'r Treat

;)

Like the concept for the new segment. Can't wait to see what other old school gems you play. May I recommend a game called Talisman. Not sure if you had it over in the US.

Great episode. The Nightmare segment was hilarious.

I find Aion interesting, but I really wish there was a demo or a free trial. I was a long time player of WoW before quitting last April during the insane grind of finishing up a Master's thesis, and I would love to get involved in another MMO. Bit it is hard to justify dropping the game price and then the monthly fee on a product that has been described in such a variety of ways by a great number of people. Not really sure I am looking for a game with a very WoWish foundation, as you described it, Jeff, and I agree that it could be both a positive and negative thing, but I really want a successful MMO to break away from that mold. Blizzard does what it does very well, but it's time to reinvent a little bit. Hopefully someone can do it, and do it right.

In Britain Atmosfear (Nightmare) has a pretty big series behind it, there's about 7 games, each one hosted by on of the characters (Khufu, Baron Samedi) in place of the gatekeeper, they're Ace but hard to get hold of, We've got them, but Sorry, I would never be able to post them to you guys >.<

Good stuff. loved the intro and I'm liking the new theme 'songs' every week. Very clever.

Re: AION. It's described as WoWish.. and while that seems to be instantly recognizable, it seems to be a very broad description. (I too would love for them to make a demo available to check things out myself.) Before WoW, I was an EQ and EQ2 player. Questing, killing and general MMO activities are similar in WoW and the EQ games, but there are clearly differences. The crafting systems drastically different, the spell upgrades and character customization system are different. The general feel of the world is very very different.

In what ways are AION and WoW similar, and in what ways does AION move the needle in terms of MMOs.

Haven't watched the whole show yet but wanted to say that I LOVE the new intros more and more each week! I also really enjoy the simple and candid feeling way the show starts off, with the reading of what you'll be discussing.

Also - all three of you - your hair looks especially awesome this week, what's up with that? Are you all sharing a new hairstylist or shampoo? :P

Great episode.

"Give a card to the fat one" may be the funniest TRS moment of all time for me.

As an avid WoW player, I've been trying my hardest to avoid Aion. Mostly because I don't have time for two MMOs, and my raid group is pushing ToC hardmodes.

But after hearing how much you guys like it (particularly Alex and Jeff, I found TRS through Project Lore), I'm starting to feel the pressure...

New intros are really kicking ass! I'm impressed you're able to come up with a new song each week but I guess at this point nothing TRS does should surprise me :)

Zombieland was a fun movie- exactly what it was supposed to be (a little slow in the middle section but that's forgivable). Nightmare was hilarious and I hope "Game with Name" might become a regular segment...?

No complaints guys, keep up the great work!

Nightmare section was priceless, I actually played this and nightmare 2 with some friends back when I was like 12 after trick or treating. Unfortunately despite my not being that fat I was the one who got the card rofl. And to all those who are haters of the pay to play model it works like this:

1. 15$ a month is still way less than you'd spend on that much of any other form of entertainment, hell going to see 1 90 minute movie is getting up to around there, you could get 100s of hours of entertainment out of that 15 bucks on an mmo.

2. Games with pay to play structures usualy support their game much more actively. Yeah WoW has had 2 expansions but each expansion has had 3-5 major content patches which honestly stand up to 90% of the expansion packs that alot of companies put out. If you want a free to play mmo there's plenty but if you're willing to pay, you usualy get a better game out of it with new content and constant upgrading to graphics, bug fixing, features (3.1 WoW brought dual spec which was the best thing to happen to WoW since the mind control engineering helm. Especialy if, like me, you were a tank or a healer)

And Aion looked good enough I'm willing to give it a try we'll see where that goes once the free month it up.

Im tempted to try out Aion as I lost my love for WoW and itd be nice to be eased into a similar mmo. Also, cant wait to see Zombieland.

LOVED Zombieland. Hopefully there'll be at least one more of them.

Wasn't that director one of two writers that screwed up Superman Returns, or are we blaming Bryan Singer for that? I suppose he hired them. Harsh, maybe, but this is the internet.

We had Atmosfear (Nightmare) :) You guys talking back to the gate-keeper and him making you jump brought back loads of memories. I actually had one of those little electronic diaries machines back in the day and I made the device's password "atmosfear" to get into the thing. BUT! I spelt it wrong so it was locked. I tried for a long time to work it out but never did get to use the device again. :p

Found it!

Loved seeing the gang play Nightmare this week, and Magic: The Gathering about 7 episodes ago.

Jeff, you seem to have brought up board gaming a few times recently. As an avid board gamer, I love seeing this side awaken in somebody. There is just something about getting together with your friends, and actually gaming, face to face.

You seem to be taking some of the same steps that I did. I remember quite a few episodes back, you mentioned playing Settlers of Catan on xbox arcade, and I have to say that Settlers in person, trading live is a lot more fun!

If you are leaning towards a few more games that are a lot of fun, I would recommend a few of the following:

Dominion - 2-4 players - 20-40 min playtime - Some have compared it to a ccg like magic, but instead you start the game with a very little deck, and the game is all about constructing your deck while you play, to build the deck that gets the most points. Fairly random, but a lot of fun.

Descent: Journeys in the Dark - 2-5 players - 2-3 hour playtime - This one is a little rules intense, and is probably better to learn from someone who knows how to play, but if you can get through the rulebook, it is like a dungeon crawl from D&D, with out the roleplaying, just the fighting. 1 player is the Overlord, the rest are Heros, and they are trying to get through the dungeon, collect treasure, and kill the boss. Long game, but fun.

Pandemic - 1-4 players - 30-45 min playtime - This one is a little different, because it is everyone playing against the game! There are 4 dangerous viruses unleashed on the earth, and it is up to all of you to work together to find cures for all of them. There is a great mechanism in the game that keeps everything exciting! An excellent co-operative board game.

Small World - 2-5 players - 45-60 min - If I had to compare it to a game that you have probably heard of, this would be like risk... but with fewer dice... and fantasy characters like elves, trolls and even humans... and it's a lot of fun. Also, the best thing is, if you get picked on, and the others all but destroy you, then throw your team away, and pick an all new team, and re-enter the game and seek vengence!

Oops, short post turned long. Sorry.

Just want to add my kudos to the TRS crew in regards to the new format. Excellent work. It seemed like there may have been some growing pains with the last "reboot," but now that is clearly over and TRS is flexing it's geek muscle like never before. Keep up the great work.

Hi Curt, welcome to the forum.

Hope I made it clear on the show that I MUCH prefer Catan in person on a table-top to XBL. Much, much better.

Also, of the game listed above, the only we have yet to try is Descent. I didn't much care for Small World, but we all LOVE Pandemic and Dominion. For more boardgame talk, definitely check out my blog at jeffcannata.com

Ok, I had to come here and say this.

I'm offended by what Dan said about Shaun of the Dead.

I came back from watching Zombieland, and it's hardly the horror comedy classic. It didn't have enough zombie setpiece moments, moments of comedy genius, or memorable dialogue. Jesse speaking over the RULES v.o. was unnecessarily and forced, much like SIN CITY. I hate bad V.O., and sadly this movie had it. But thankfully, not any more on-the-nose RULES narration later on.

Also, the romantic stuff reminded me ADVENTURELAND where it feels so unrealistic how a nervous Michael Cera-like fool gets a gorgeous girl. I'm not jealous, it's just that it's never brought up how she should be turned off at first but eventually see the charm behind his neuroticness. So, there could've been more character development or arcs. I just couldn't believe or invest in this Wichita/Columbus romance.

The only great thing memorable about it was BILL MURRAY. That I could genuinenly say was comedic genius writing.

Edit that spoiler out please. ^ Some of us liked the film, there's no need to ruin for people who haven't seen just because if wasn't for you.

I would recommend you never watch a Woody Allen film if you find it unbelievable that the neurotic guy gets the hot girl.

I fucking love Woody Allen movies. Stop with stupid assumptions. Plus, they're a lot more believable because those movies have good writing around the weird situations. In Zombieland, there's like 1% of any explanation why she gets into his pants.

Hey guys, lets imagine this situation. There are pretty much FOUR people alive in the United States of America, and you're a chick who hasnt been laid or had a relationship in months/years or whatever. I'd say it's pretty easy to end up liking this guy (especially when you're a) drunk or b) he saves your fucking life). It's really one of those connection-by-circumstance thing, just that because it's a movie, she's hot. I didn't have a problem with that at all.

And also about zombieland, was anyone else disappointed with the intro sequence after having it get so damn pumped up. It was just okay, imo. The slow mo was too slow mo, and it just didn't have a good feel to it. The watchmen intro was a zillion tiems better, and is probably the best intro of all time.
